Angry iDrive Media Behavior Change After Head Unit Replacement

Hi All!

I recently had my head unit replaced by BMW (under warranty). One thing I noticed when I plugged in my iPhone through USB, the behavior of the iDrive system changed. And this is only through USB, through Bluetooth, the behavior is the same as it was. This is when not using the music app (Spotify, Pandora, Downcast, etc.). Please see the comparison pictures.

My iOS version is unchanged. I've tried updating the iDrive software using BMW's downloadable media updates.

Here's how it looks in Bluetooth, and how it USED to look over USB. Note the lack of left hand options, except next and previous track, and the header that says: "Bluetooth: Spotify". the USB mode used to say "USB: Spotify"

Here's the HUD view. Only shows the currently playing track, with a forward and back option, as intended.

Ever since my head unit got replaced, this is what the USB mode shows, still using the Spotify app. It seems like it still thinks my phone is using the "Music" app.
Note the "USB: Mike's iPhone" and not the "USB: Spotify", and all the normal "music app" options.

And Here's the HUD view. This is where it gives me issue. The remaining tracks called "Spotify" only act as a "next track" function, no matter which one I select, Even "Spotify" entries before the currently playing track.

So now I can only go forward one track, instead of forward and backwards.
I've been pulling my hair out trying to find anyone who's had this issue. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is that with Bluetooth disabled in the phone?
