Would TPMS from 5 series wheels work for 3 series?

Might be a dumb question but I recently swapped my 401 wheels for some 351m wheels and I was told they had tpms on them and I keep getting the malfunction.. so either that are bad or aren't compatible with my car?
I have a 2012 335i sedan.. anyone know?

No they have to be a certain part number and year for them to work with your 3 series. I think there are a couple different ones on here for sale.

Well I checked fcp euro and the oem ones for my 2012 335i do for 535,550i so idk, I still have my original ones that I can use but the new wheels have them and I really don't feel like going back to the shop and swapping them lol

It’s a pretty simple reset if they are the correct ones. I have winter and summer wheel sets and no issues resetting them.

Yeah I reset the Idrive a few times and it looked like it was working for a little bit and then when I turned the car off and back on it gave me the malfunction again but idk I'll figure it out. I have my original ones from the other wheels I can swap but I wanted to figure it out before I do that. Appreciate the response

We're you implying that there is another way to reset besides the normal Idrive way?

No

I just start driving and it tells me they need to be reset. Pull over and do the reset and done. That is weird if it allows you to do it and then you turn you car off it doesn’t recognize them again.

Yeah swapping them between wheels is not ideal. Would cost to much money to do that every time.

there's two different tpms. HUF pre mid 2014ish, VDO after. HUF 315mhz, VDO 433mhz. your car will work with only one of them. not sure if there is a coding resolution.

there's much info on this subject if your browse and search the forums, instead of waiting for "instant gratification" answers

Thank you. The monitor is currently working but every now and then it'll say malfunction but then work. I'm giving it a week and if it still acts up I'll swap the original ones back in. When I did the wheel swap I didn't even think about the tpms and after was like shit lol
