Yeah, I was impressed with how a 228i looked last time out (Brats in the Lot 10/4). |

I have a new set of bearing retainers with a couple of small tweaks that should put my issues to bed.
I was out of town for a couple of weeks and am scheduled to have another go with the new parts next Wednesday. Hope to update then. The travel derailed my plans to make this weekend's autox. |

New bearing retainers are finally in and have fixed the binding issues. The retainers required some extra chamfering to clear the spring perches.
My front end is now solid, fluid, and mostly quiet. Small bumps still make a little noise, but I think this to be expected given the construction of the plates. Last edited by rwalker; 11-27-2014 at 06:20 PM.. |

So starting from the kit that they initially sent you, can you recap the parts replaced and any tweaking work you did that helped get them to where they are now?

The crux of the issue was insufficient clearance between the bearing retainer and the spring perch. There was both vertical and lateral interference causing those pieces to grind against each other, binding the steering and filling the bearing races with aluminum filings.
Suspecting an installation issue, GC initally shipped me new spring perches, bearings, and bearing retainers (of the same design). My shop test fit the new parts, but found they also interfered (off the car!). GC re-clearanced the bearing retainers to eliminate vertical interference with the perches. My shop then re-re-clearanced the bearing retainers to eliminate lateral interference with spring perches: all fixed. Last edited by rwalker; 11-28-2014 at 11:59 AM.. |

hey guys, i have been using 245/40/18 on apex 18x9 ET42 on toyo r888 and it was fine until i swapped msport rotors to mperf rotors and then the tires begun to rub with the shock(suspension), anyways it was time to replace the rear tires and i took the front r888 to rear and put on 245/40/18 Mich Pilot supersport which has balloon-like design on the edges and rubbed even more, so i ordered 3mm and 5mm from Macht Schnell, placed 3mm front and it still rubs if i place 5mm in front it will stick out of the fender as its overflush with 3mm already..
can you guys help me with any ideas? Is it fixable with wheel allignment? should i save these MPSS set for another season and buy smaller width tires? would buying GC camberplate solve the rubbing?

A wheel alignment can't fix over-flush, camber is fixed on these cars.
My GC plates allow me to fit 255/35r18 et36 r888s on my M235i (which have less fender than an F30). |

My f30 running 275/40+17x9.5 35et+8mm spacers on front. It does not stick or rub at all.
The car is equipped with GC plate and bmw oem swivel bearing.

exactly i went back to him at the early morning before any traffic and he took it, as you said washer plate the problem is he couldn't compress the springs in his shop so he went to a nearby shop ( 100m away) and that Dguy basically removed and installed new camber in the wrong way. am pretty happy to drive my car with stock-comfort and more negative camber After alignment at Michelin shop ( using Hunter device)

Bumping this up to see how the GC camber plates have held up over the years
Going on their site, it looks like the design has changed somewhat, any feedback? |
