Keeping stock DP but going stage 2+ (HPFP, BM3 tune)

Hi everyone.

I have the HPFP installed and BM3 (currently flashed to Stage 1), car is otherwise stock outside of xHP trans tune.

I was planning on going with a catted DP but after trying a two, I just don't like the fuel smell and raspy sound. The OEM DP sounds the best for me and mitigates smell the most.

Can I reliably run the BM3 Stage 2+ tune WITH the OEM DP? I understand I wouldn't maximize the power of this tune, but surely it will be miles better than Stage 1.

Is there any risk of this? Alternatively, has anyone went with a catted DP then installed a downstream 200 CEL cat in the place of the resonator or something to reduce fuel smell?

No you cannot run the OEM on Stage 2 or Stage 2+. What DP's did you buy? The VRSF one sounded horrible on my 340.

I'm running the ER high flow one now. It sounds great, smell is minimal.

Your EGT's gotta be through the rough running Stage 2+ with oem DP. Bad idea, don't do it.

A 200/300 cel dp really shouldn't smell that much ?

you should not run stage 2 on stock downpipe, i recommend you get a high flow catted downpipe instead. CTS & MAD are the top 2 options with our customers

How did you try the two? What two did you test?

The OEM downpipe can’t handle the exhaust flow from the higher stages. You’re playing a bad game.

The issue is the 5" cat on both of those. Seems to make them more "boomy" and "raspy" than the 4" ones.

This is one of those rare situations where size doesn't matter.

For me the difference between stock and stage 1 on bm3 was maybe 2x the noticible difference over going from stage 1 to 2. So if no DP then i recommend staying at stage 1 and tey to convince yourself your really not missing all THAT much, and your saving the planet in the process.

I had catted high flow Cobb DP on my last n54 and hinestly can't really tell a difference sound/smell between that catted one and a vrsf catless, besides the catted costing like x3 more and me feeling like i was somehow not destroying the planet nearly as much as these catless heathens running around

definetly dont run a tune without the correct supporting mods, theres a reason that race cars dont smell good lol

Horrible idea, it's very bad for the cat and the turbo.
