Shop Recommendation for Timing Chain?

My car is right about 85k miles and was wondering if anybody had any luck finding a shop that does timing chain/guide replacement?

Yup - I always have the nagging feeling that the guides might break so I'm planning to do some preventative maintenance. Do you know how much it costs there?

It's about a 1.5-2 day job, give them a call. Do you hear the chain slapping against the guides?

I think I called them a year ago and they said they don't do this

No, not yet. I ended up having to fix a bunch of other random things so I'm getting that done first

I have not had a timing chain issue (OP did), but I have had plenty of work done there over the past 3 years including the Ohlins on my M3

I also recommend GT Auto Peace for all your BMW needs. Gaylin will take care of you for timing chain issue and any other BMW issue.

What's the going rate on this work? I saw there will be an update to extend the warranty to 8 years / 100K miles for the N20 timing issues, but I'm considering having my N20's timing components replaced with updated parts as I'd like to keep the car past 8 years...

I inquired with GT Peace and the quote looks like it'll be about $2800 for warrantied work. I emailed another shop and they told me whenever they give the quote for this job people tend to pass...so I didnt ask for the price.

I'm a huge fan of J&F Motors in Arlington. They're about par for the area on cost and really good at providing accurate estimates.

Prestige Automative Solutions in Maryland is my choice. They have been great. I think I have recommended over 15 family and friends to them over the years, and everyone has been happy with service and prices.
