Rear hoist attachment on engine
I’m working on pulling my engine for a rebuild, and I feel like I am missing something here.
As far as I am aware the rear hoisting point on the block is by the starter, but the hole seems to be obstructed by the transmission bell housing. Can someone let me know what the correct procedure is to get a hoist attached here? I’ve seen a few videos where people are lifting from here, but none showed how the attachment was made, or their transmission seemed to have clearance around this. Hi, I have the same WTF moment. Have you been able to solve this somehow?
I'm able to put there a 6mm bolt in that gap, but I'm not sure if that is good idea. I mean, hanging engine and gearbox on so small bolt seems unsafe. |

I used a 10” nylon sling from my rock climbing kit, protecting it from sharp edged with a piece of cardboard.
