Pics and review of my Bimmerbox subwoofer enclosure!
I just installed a JL Audio 10W6v3 into my 2016 428I GC and it turned out better than I could have hoped for. First, a little background on me. I have had literally zero experience installing car stereo equipment or working on cars for that matter. I had no idea what I was about to get into as I figured I would pay a professional to do it for me. Bimmerpost member Titan 3, the maker of the subwoofer enclosure, assured me I could do it myself. I have to admit, I was skeptical because I know my mechanical and DIY abilities were severely lacking but he was adamant that he could get me through this. I took a leap of faith and it turned out wonderful.
Mike, aka Titan 3, walked me through every step of the install process. He probably spent over 6hrs through text and phone calls helping me with the install. The guy really knows his stuff! I am on a few car forums and reef forums (my other hobby) and I have never had a person guide me through anything for that length of time. It just goes to show you how Bimmerpost members step up to help a fellow member in need. Thank you, Mike! Please bear with me as I don’t have a lot of experience posting write ups. I just felt compelled to post as this should help some members add some bass to a severely lacking system. Trust me, if I can do the install, anyone can do it! Here are some key facts about the subwoofer box: -Made out of fiberglass -Carpet color is dyed to match the trunk carpet. -Countersunk 1” MDF ring -Pre assembled kit w/molex connectors for easy removal and access to battery. -Built to match the airspace requirements for the sub. Other parts used in the install: -JL Audio 10W6v3 subwoofer -Alpine PDX-M6 amp -Technic Harness

Here is the box that I bought from fellow Bimmerpost member Titan 3. The box is made out of fiberglass and is approximately 0.55 cu ft, the specs called for by JL Audio. It is carpeted (matches the exact color of my trunk!) and is built like a tank.
MDF trim ring: Here it is being test fitted in the car. Btw, the box is friction fitted and once in place, does not budge at all.

Here’s the sub mounted inside the enclosure. As you can see, it’s a perfect fit!
Here are some miscellaneous install pics. I wish I could have done a true write up, but as I said before, I am a complete novice at this as well as the install. If you have any questions about a pic, please feel free to post here. I am willing to help as much as I can.

So how does it sound? Just three letters, OMG!! Mike asked me to download Adele's version of the classic Cure hit "Love Song". I downloaded it and it began to play. There's a long introduction before the bass notes started to hit but once it hit, I almost shat my pants!! Wow!!! I finally have the bass I was missing! Being 45 years old, I used to bump LL Cool J's, " I need love" and "Going back to Cali" in the mid 80's. Haha, boy did it bring back memories of my Honda Accord running a pair of Orion 10" subs powered by a PPI amp. I felt like I was 17 again!! My wife even asked me if I felt like a single guy again, lol!
I feel that the addition of the sub has opened up a new realm of audio that I have been missing for decades. I have not added a subwoofer to any of cars for the past 15-20 years. Now, I feel as if the rest of the system is lacking and I will definitely upgrade my stock speakers. Once again, I would like to thank Mike, aka Titan 3 for the sub enclosure (www.instagram.com/bimmerbox/) and his patience in dealing with me. I still cannot get over the fact that I installed this myself!!

Oh yeah, definitely hard! I have my bass turned down to about 1/4 of the way on the radio and my gains are about half ways on the Alpine 600 watt amp. Let's just say I have plenty of bass!

Very nice install. I just picked up a '14 335i and am seriously considering an upgrade to the Harmon Kardon Premium stereo in the car. I've been looking at various stealth style sub enclosures including those from Integral and MusicCar NW. I'd be intersted to know if there is a Titan sub enclosure available for the F30 BMW.
