Hey everyone...
Thank you for taking the time to read this. This just started happening when I start the car in the morning after sitting all night. Car has 74k on it and never had this issue before. Starts up fine (rpm goes to 1600) but after a few seconds rpms dip( goes down to 500-600) and the car feels like it's going to stall, but immediately goes back up and normalizes and doesn't happen again all day. I have spoken to multiple bmw technicians and they all say "it's normal" I have read multiple ppl saying they had the same experience. This does not seem normal since it has never happened in the 74k that this car has been driven. Once again, thank you for your time |

I bet you have a leak on your PCV tube or turbo inlet. Both broke on my car causing cold start issues and problems with WGDC (PWG car).

You will need to upload it to youtube or another video sharing platform. Youtube/google videos is free and easy with a gmail account. Upload then just post the link here, and make sure the video is public. |

So is the car completely stock? And do you have any codes or a way to scan for them?
Also, did you touch the gas during that time or did it raise back over 1500 all on its own? |

At the same time, i would give everything a good visual inspection. With the car cold, pull the engine cover and check your CP (feel around for loose connections, etc), check your inlet/intake, MAF, airbox, O2 sensor plugs/wires, etc. If nothing looks/feels wrong, and you have no codes or other symptoms, there isn't much to go on. So you either throw parts at the car or monitor how things change over time. |

This could be a variety of issues, as stated above. I had this exact problem a few moths ago. My RPM's would drop down and the car would overcompensate and they would shoot up. Only happened on cold starts. Dealer replaced my MAF sensor and advised me to be cautious using oiled after market intakes, as they can damage the sensor over time. I now run the stock intake with the AFE pro dry drop in filter.

I had a rough cold start and once I changed my spark plugs it's been much better since. My car has 88k miles and I changed at about 80k and bought my car with 45k and believe they were on stock plugs when I did. This was my first bmw so I myself was learning a ton along the way

it happened to me last year.
Dealer had no idea why this was happening, so after reading some posts about the issue I asked the dealer for a plugs replacement, they did it and the rpm drop disappeared during cold starts. it s been 1 year without rpm drops. knock on wood. |
