Any Ex E90 owners to F30?

Hey Guys,
Wouldnt of imagined it- but I think I want a F30 335 now. I searched for so long, and lost patience at the last minute when i found my 2011 335 Xdrive msport in space grey, with only 9K miles for $30K. I saved about 10K over getting a CPO used F30 version of the car.

Just wondering those of you that went from the e90 to your F30 what did you like?

My daughter is 8, and she is small, and the rear seat room is relatively tight- the car is small overall, but I love it.. just would like the nice newer interior, more space, and more rear space-
I also like the exterior overall design better, only in Msport package.

I listed my car, hopefully I move it soon. Has only 13500 miles now, and due to one of the tires leaking will have brand new RFT as well.

Our last car was E90 328i and the F30 is a bigger car compare with E90 and the only thin I disliked is the electric steering vs hydraulic.

Yeap another reason why I jumped all over my 335! Figured last of a almost brand new awesome driving generation- but i think i can deal with that lighter feeling for the bigger space and nicer interior, and nav screen

I miss the hydraulic steering and even if the cup holder placement was horrible on the e90, I think it's worse on the f30. And coming from the N52 to N20 I sure do miss the sound of my performance exhaust on the N52. Other than that I love my f30.

I previously had a 2009 E90 328i xDrive for about 4 years before getting my current F30 328i xDrive which I've now had for about 3 years. Initially the lighter feeling steering took a little getting used to, but otherwise I feel the F30 is just as much fun to drive as my old E90 was.

E92 ---> F32 Only thing I miss is the hydraulic steering of the E92 which took a few months to get used to when I jumped to the F32.

08 335 -> 14 335 xdrive

The only thing I don't like is how floaty the xdrive suspension is. Knowing that, I wouldn't get xdrive again unless it had the dynamic suspension to firm things up a bit.

I just recently traded in a 2011 335 xdrive m-sport for a decked out 2016 f30 340 xdrive, Absolutely zero regrets. The 340 is better in every sway imaginable.

I came over from an E92 into an F30, but had an E90 before that. If more room is what you're looking for, you've found it!

The F30 is a much larger (longer and wider) car than the last gen. The interior is nicer looking even though the feel isn't quite there. My last cars were also 335i, while both of my Fxx models have the N20. This gen 335i feels a bit more powerful, but so does the N20.

Overall, I like the F30 better than the E90. Car is much more reliable IMO which was a big plus.

Only downgrade is the steering. Otherwise a better car in every way, imho.

I think I can be an authority on this having purchased an F30 yesterday and having an e90 a month ago. The steering feel is less, but that being said, by no means a deal breaker. Took my car today on some twisties and it was great....still have to experiment though. The f30 interior and tech is superior...that's my opinion. The extra space has already been complimented by people I know who felt my last car was tight. As for the cupholders as one person here said he did not like..completely disagree...Today, I actually used the holder instead of the pivot out of dashboard thing. Sure, still not perfect but much more useable. As for performance power kit--don't think it is worth the cost. I do miss the extra burble sound but for an added boost I know I will go JB4--like they say once you go bmw you will always go bmw, and once you experience Jb4 you will always crave that. Bottom line: although I've only had my car for a day and several f30 loaners in the past I will say the F30 is superior to the e90.

No harshness intended.....Honestly this just kinda blows my mind. It took you like six years to finally take the plunge on the car you have. You finally found a needle in a haystack that pushed you to pull the trigger. I think you should keep the car you have and think about an F30 in a couple of years.

I honestly have a really hard time imaging you being able to find an F30 that will fit the bill.

Had a 2009 335 xDrive for 4 years and now on my second f30. As others have said everything is better except the steering. Only other issue is the xDrive suspension. It is more "floaty" on the f30 making adaptive m suspension (pre-LCI only available as part of the dynamic handling package) a must for xDrive f30s. In sport mode the xDrive adaptive m suspension firms up nicely and is probably superior to e90. Suspension is much improved all around on LCI models so if you went that route adaptive m is probably less of a requirement but still recommended.

I have to second that. I came from 07 E90 335i RWD...The F30 is slightly longer around 3-4 inches than E90, like from 179 to 182+ something like that. I do miss the hydraulic feel but quick got used to the new F30 since I always move it to sport mode...with MPSS tires, in sport/sport+ mode, definitely a tight/closer to hydraulic feel. With winter tires on, i loss slightly the tight feel, i did noticed the difference. Ditch the RFT...mine came with a tire kit...non RFT is so much better. Hope this helps..

I have both...see my signature. Frankly, I think people who've "moved" from an E90 to an F30 sort of forget about the dynamics of the prior car (E90) and get used to the new (F30). Since I can and do drive them back-back often, I can assure you that the F30 left a LOT on the table dynamically. It is bigger, more supple, better tech, arguably better looking, etc. but it is NOT the driver's car that was the E90. And no, it's not JUST the steering, it's also the handling. Those are two different things.

So, the F30 is an improved vehicle in many, many tangible ways over the E90, as expected with a newer model, but it also unfortunately gives up some things.

Maybe the LCI really got the suspension right because for the first month of my 340i ownership I split time with my family's just sold e92 335. I could tell steering differences but not in handling.

I do know the pre LCI was criticized though.

F30 is a nice car and a great daily driver. I haven't driven the LCI car yet, but my GUESS is that it will be a lot of fun with PSS from the factory and adaptive suspension

I miss the hydraulic steering on my old E90, and preferred that the sport package suspension was more aggressive on the car.

Came from my 10yr old e90 '06 325i with over 300k mileage to new '16 F30 340xi and loving every minute of it. Everything is better - steering, handling, space, looks, efficiency, not to mention the power!!

Steering on the f30 doesn't feel like a typical bmw. It's "ok" but I would prefer e90 steering any day of the week. Also the f30 feels like it has more body roll.
