Xhp flashtool on N20 28i 8HP45

Hello, has anyone already tried the XHP OTS maps available for the N20 8HP45, 20i and 28i?

How do you notice your cars?

Greetings

I'm interested in trying this but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Anyone with n20/26 try this out yet?

Subbed.. I also want to see anyone whose done this so far, now another question is if you have a custom tune already do you have to get another retune or it will work flawlessly with the tune

Planning to do it after I see how the stock tune feels on track this weekend. Need to change my trans fluid as well before I feel comfortable doing it.

I already did it, 100% recommended, in comfort it is very soft and in sport it becomes aggressive, sport + I am still doing 80km of adaptations, and it is incredible

Did you do the stage 3 flash or another one? I'm probably going to pull the trigger this weekend on it

Did you do the trans tune with BM3 before to compare? Would be curious if this tune is better or not.

I haven't tried the xhp tune yet but I think the BM3 tune was really barebones and geared towards n55 guys. I found it pretty lacking for the n20 other than crisper upshifts in some gears. The major downside was it felt like the car mis-shifted often and lugged a lot more.

That's just my guess though but once I have xhp loaded, I'll have some anecdotal evidence to see if that's true or not

I'm curious to hear results as well. I don't like the transmission tendency to lug the engine even when both engine and transmission are stock. With BM3 tune the transmission lugs the engine even more. I haven't tried the PTF transmission flash yet because I have read here the reports like this that it isn't too good for N20.

xHP should have configurable shift points in percentages so I can make it shift in slightly higher rpms. I don't want to drive in S/sport all the time because it keeps the rpms too high for daily driving in traffic and isn't as smooth as regular D/comfort. Anyway I won't try it now since I have studded tyres because winter has already arrived in Finland. So I have time till spring to see if xHP is any good for N20.

Yes, I did it, with STAGE 3, the first impressions are in Comfort, the car looks like a motorcycle with a change of variator, the gears are not noticed up or down, it is very smooth.

On the lever in Sport mode it is still soft in comfort as in Manual,

But when we switch to Sport, the speed of the change is much harder and more precise with the lever in comfort, in Sport mode the change feels harder and faster.

In SPORT + .... that is no longer normal, in comfort the gearshift is fast as Sport, but in the S position, .... it is much harder than in Sport and in manual ... simply Awesome.

I have done it with the OEM transmission flash, not with the BM3 loaded, I advise you to do it with the OEM.

Greetings!

You definitely want to flash on OEM only. I was curious if you could provide an anecdotal comparison of the two for insight on whether xhp is better to justify paying for it when a lot of the folks here are using BM3 and have that trans tune included at no cost. Hearing some people love BM3 trans tune and others dislike it.

BM3 loads the original M235i electronics, which removes the torque limiters from the gearbox, but due to inconvenience to the N20, the change points are linked to those of the N55 engine, which are not the same as those of the N20, people Like me, we noticed that the change points were not good, since the vehicle was trying to take the highest possible gear and to lower it, sometimes more than 87% of the accelerator was needed.

XHP is an application dedicated to remapping the entire TCU gearbox, such as BM3 with the DME electronics, that is, xhp optimizes all the gearbox maps for each engine and drive mode independently and additionally you can change the change points and even adjust the launch control.

I have chosen Stage 3 because I saw the variations that were from stage 2 to 3 and it was not worth the 2 for my taste, it only changed one more point of aggressiveness in Sport + and the RACE mode with the S mode on the lever changes in SPORT +

for now the combination BM3 and XHP, simply "PERFECT"

Do you know if there's a way to get the sport+ programming but in comfort/sport mode? I drive on track in comfort mode, TCS dynamic, and manual trans mode. Don't really like the weight or pedal sensitivity in sport+ when on track.

yes, there is already an option for Sport to be Comfort, you just have to check in one option

New to the forums but just wanted to bump this regarding people’s recommended xHP N20 settings.

I currently have a 2014 428i F32 / N26 Engine.

It’s full Stage 2 BM3 / 93 Octane Tune
- FTP Charge Pipe
- FTP Boost Pipe
- FTP Turbo inlet Pipe
- TruCrane 200 CEL High-Flow Downpipe
- BMS FMIC 5”
- GFB Diverter Valve +
- INJEN Cold Air Intake
- Oil Catch Can
- 335/435i DINAN Freeflow Exhaust
- 2nd Cat Delete
- Updated HPFP

I’m also running xHP’s Stage 3 TCU flash.

When I was running BM3’s in-app Transmisison flash tune it had a nice throttle blip when upshifting and my GTS startups were a lot louder.

After flashing to xHP Stage 3, it really does shift hard and fast, but I lose a lot of that throttle blip / crack when WOT. I haven’t seen too many people post about their N20/26 settings.

My goal is to have really audible shifts and loud throttle blips when going through the gears. Any help is appreciated it! I also tried to reach out to Rod Sutphin but he’s only familiar with B48’s and B58’s.
