Yes, I am still making these on demand. I have my most recent one running in my car, which is for sale. 10" Powerbass S1004D and Alpine amp. It's a beast, I have it turned down to 20% gain. Thing pounds, and I've had JL10W6V2 before.

what subs fit

Roughly speaking, it can fit any 8 or 10 sub with less than 5 1/4" mounting depth. The Powerbass 10" in it now is 5 1/8" mounting depth.

Honestly, I've owner a few JL, and they're nice but they're not great value. I had a 10W6V2 and it didn't perform any better than the S1004D Powerbass I have now, and cost 8x as much.

If I were to make one again for myself, I'd get the S84D Powerbass 8" and the same alpine amp I have now, that would be amazing.

Do you have a sub/amp in mind, or would you prefer to buy it LOADED and ready to plug in?

Having tried a few combos now, My recommendation is an alpine amp and Powerbass S84D 8" sub.

Which JL 8" fits

A 8W1v3-4 will fit no problem, as will the 8W3v3-4. They would both be awesome in this box. I'd still opt for the Powerbass S84D WAY before going with the JL's, based on my experience with their 10" monster S1004D.

Check it out:
https://www.amazon.com/POWERBASS-S-8.../dp/B00KAK4SA8

It's a beast, and you can paint their dots the same color as your car.

Do you think a 10 inch or two 8 inch subs would sound better?

I have done (2) of these with a Single 10"; currently one in my car. Sounds fantastic.

We are limited by internal volume (~0.65cuft) and top mount depth (~5.25").

If you want (2) 10"s, the amp wont fit, which is fine, but you need to find subs with tiny volume requirements (Pioneer Flat subs need only like 0.3). (2) 8" subs doesn't seem necessary, as it's only a minor increase vs a single 10".

Personally, I think if you like HUGE bass, just do what I have which is a single 10" Powerbass or similar sub. It's a beast, and is way more capable than I need.

Thanks for the reply brother. How much watts can the 10" powerbass handle?

https://powerbassusa.com/products/mo...-10-subwoofer/

275 RMS / 550 Peak... It's a 4+4 DVC sub, I run it at 2 Ohm. My alpine 500Watt Mono amp is set at like 25% gain, no bass boost, and it POUNDS.

The battery is right there in the trunk. And if you buy the Technic addasub adapter, the signal and turn on are grabbed from the left side inside the trunk. You don't have to remove any body panels, it's easy, just pull up the left side plastic cover and plug in the Technic.

UPDATE EVERYONE:

I just sold my current 10" Enclosure, so If anyone wants one, I would be building it to spec based on whatever you want, so hit me up. Otherwise, I am now building myself another one for my car including a 8" Powerbass S84D and either an Alpine 500 or smaller amp.

I think the S84D is more than plenty for the car, and will follow up in ~a week once I've completed it.

Is the bass on this type of set-up better than going with a plug in play system such as Bavsound? Does this causes issues with the battery or make the lights dim?

No dimming or issues with battery. The install is very simple if you get the Technic adapter for the amp, which is $85. 5min.

I don't know much about bavsound, but if you want a hidden sub, i've never found one commercially, which is why I made it. It sounds great, and was way more than I needed, same for the one I sold, rave reviews.

The bavsound ghost subs aren't enough imo. I'm powering mine with an external amp and I'm considering going up to one of these trunk enclosures to get even more bass.

Theres just no replacement for displacement.

A 10" added way more than I needed personally. And the guy who bought one loves it. He posted about it.

Let me know if you want one and I'll make it for you.

Cheers

This looks really cool and efficient. How does it sound being in the compartment enclosure with the flap on top of it? Does it give a lot of rattle? How about long term use wear and tear on the bottom of your car? I'm not knocking your item just trying to educate myself.

I'm really interested in this. IF you say its that easy, get the harness and plug it in to whatever that electronic is under the left plastic cover in the trunk, and then just plug in the two terminals into the battery right there.

Then this seems like a 30 minute install tops for improved bass and a freaking awesome houdini enclosure.

No power loss, battery loss, flickering? weirdness? lol

IM IN!!!

Ha ha. Yes it's awesome. Very easy install. Zero effect on the car, no rattles, sounds great, no flicker or weirdness.

I've sold 2, very positive review. I loved it. I'm about to make another one, trying the 8" Powerbass S84D.

I wont be able to make them in the winter because I make them outside, so literally get them while it's hot. Ha.

Hi everyone.

I am planning on making 4 boxes soon, which will be available for sale in the coming weeks.

They will be the drop in style, so they just drop right into the factory cargo spot.

$550 empty

I can buy and install a sub and amp by request, at cost using Amazon.

Any advance orders? I will take $50 off if ordered before September 10th, 2019.

3 left. Anyone want one? I can make them custom to your amp/sub as well.
