When backing up into my garage, which I do relatively slowly and always carefully, I have become used to hearing a sound which has startled others in the car. At about the same place in the manuever each time, I hear a thunk from the rear. When it first happened, I got out to look around, and I wasn't near anything that I might have hit. Over time, I've realized this is the sloshing of the gasoline in the tank. Has anyone else experienced this when reversing?

83+ people who read this have not had this experience? I was hoping for some insight before visiting the dealer. Wonder if an internal fuel tank baffle broke or is missing...

If mine does it I can't hear it over my radio, which is always on.

Next time i am in the garage ill try to listen for it but i have never noticed. Can you hear it with the windows closed?

Yes, windows are almost always closed. It sounds like I hit something soft...a "thud" sound. I noticed that it occurs at the same point in the same manuever each time, backing up into the garage spot. After hearing it the first few times and checking, I realized the sound was from inside the car...nothing nearby enough to hit. It does sound like a liquid slosh hitting the inside of a container, but I'm surprised it happens at this level of volume. I may try running the tank down more (not my typical behavior) to see if it changes.
