What car do you have and what donor mirrors.

I have swapped F80 to F30 and it's perfect.

Wondering if you attempted to swap F82/M4 Mirrors to your F30.

Those do not have same mounts.

Most individual sets of F80/F82 Mirrors on eBay claim they fit on either.

They don't.

Well the sticker on the mirror does say F80. I wonder if it's because i have an early model f30?

I have a 2013 F30 and the F80 mirrors fit fine.

There entire run of F30 use the same side mirror structure which is attached differently than the F32.

yea man i dont know.. it was super annoying when it wasn't bolting up right. i mean it's on pretty tight with just 2 bolts but not exactly what i expected when i tackled this project.

the top pic is the f30 and the bottom is the f80 mirror. it might be a little hard to tell but the f80 bottom mounting points are wider than the f30. Maybe they made a change later down in the years? i don't know.. i'm waiting for an answer from the seller to see what year these mirrors were from.

Again, the F30/F80 external mirrors are interchangeable with same options.

I don't know how many times I can repeat it.

There is clearly a difference in the 2 pics as to the bolt position.

What are the last 7 of the VIN of your car and the same from the donor vehicle?

The only other possibility I can think of is that the replacement is a Shadowline S760A and yours is not a Shadowline, though I would be surprised if they were not bolt compatible.

Both my car and the donor were Shadowline and they both bolted up perfectly.

Again, the replacement mirror IS a Shadowline.

i'm thinking these are probably f82 mirrrors even though it clearly says f80 inside the mirrors. It's all good.. they fit snug but only down fall is 2 bolts vs 3.

If BMW Engineers felt only 2 bolts were needed, there would not be 3 there.

You have potential leak issues as well as the possibility as the mirror being ripped loose or off easier.

I actually bought used mirrors and planned to do this. What seal did you use on the f30? the stock or the f80 mirror seal?

I ordered the F80 seals.

Have a friend who is shop foreman at BMW Dealer. We examined the F80 seals and looked at the F30 seals in place. Decided they really were 99% the same and didn't think it would be an issue. So left F30 in place knowing I might have to change.

Thus far, have not seen any sign of leaking or why the F30 Seal would not work.

Usually I always state BMW tries to keep as small of number of parts as possible so they usually want parts like this that fit multiple models. Also see comment above about bolts. So I assume they must have a reason for the differences. I just haven't figured out what it was.

Thanks for the info. So I sourced all the parts and got my mirrors in pieces. Since my f30 has blind spot monitor, surround view camera and tilt function when in reverse and seat memory. Do i need to code these in or will it work plug and play. Also for auto dimming is that something that is plug and play too since it has all the modules? FYI I got the mirrors with the same functions as well as the convex mirrors with auto dim and heating.

I had every option on my F30 mirrors as did the F80 mirrors. So for me they were plug and play.
