I absolutely love my GT. Love the fact it will do anything I ask of it.
Spacious, smooth, limo comfort and when I do ask her to hitch her petticoats up and run she can fly.
I debadged mine as the only thing I didn't like was the rear badges. It looks so much cleaner with no badges on the rear.
I used Bimmercode this afternoon for some tweaks. At the moment I cannot think of a similar car I'd rather own.

I never realized there was "hate" for them until I saw this thread. I don't own an F34, but an F30. I was eyeballing the 34, & 36 for that matter, quite a bit before I settled on the 30. I like the 34 & 36. To me they look like a modern, 4 door version of the Jensen Interceptor, one of my favorite cars.

Each to their own. GT gets more love than hate IMO

The Jensen has always been on my bucket list to buy but I've never got around to scratching that itch but now that you mention it, this could easily be why I love my GT too.

Yes, I heard some of my friends calling it the most ugly car they've ever seen, but that means nothing to me. For me, the 3GT is a perfect blend of good-looking and practicality.

The first time I learned 3GT was in about 2013 and after 5 years in 2018 I do the purchase. During these 5 years, many other models came into my list but none of them could beat 3GT.

For the resale value, in my city(Shanghai, China), the 3GT does better than the 3series sedan for its more personalized.

The only thing owning this thing has done to me is make me want another one with the B58 engine. I wish it was a bit quieter on the highway and passing traffic noise through the window/doors/wherever it comes from could be better. Suspect the regular non-acoustic glass on that one.

Overall the car is great, it does everything I want without buying a SUV. Only problem is it is not that smooth, vibrates a lot and the brakes suck.

Mine is very smooth, and the brakes are as good as or better than any other car I've owned.

i have 19ninch wheels lowered with bilstein b8 and acs springs and it looks cracking awesome in bsm and handles spectacularly with 335d powertrain.
Excellent in smooth roads and motorways but inner city crumbling roads there are knocks at medium speed and i think it's the 19in wheels.

It's absolutely the 19s. The sidewalls are too short for a comfortable ride on less than pristine roads.

I agree on the brakes. I have a n26 engine and the brakes feel bad in comfort and eco modes. The brakes feel substantially better in sport mode, like it doesn't feel like I'm lunging forward when I brake compared to comfort mode. Wondering what makes sport mode feel so much better. Any ideas?

Nothing in the manual mentions the brakes being affected by sport mode, but as the car runs in a lower gear when in sport that would make engine braking more obvious.

Loving my GT

Happy with mine, and I agree that I get way more compliments than than with the sedans of years past.

i used to brake and then car would stop but oscillate a few times. I did not like this but gathered this was normal. I switched to upgraded shocks and springs snd that oscillation is gone and braking and steering is very precise leading me to believe what you describe is down to the very spongy suspension (which has its benefits comfort wise but not for me) getting firmed up in sport.

when both wheels go into a midsize potholes in mid speed at same time no thump. When only one wheel goes in to same pothole there is a metallic thump.
Car has new suspension mounts new control arms and new shocks and springs.
Is it just the wheels.
Dealers indys etc think all is fine with suspension.
I have been debating if it could be anti roll bar bushings as only happens when one wheel is compressed suddenly but apparently you can't replace just the bushings and have to replace the whole bar which part alone is £200.
Part of me wants to replace front Anti roll bar with another oem anti roll bar.
If that thump is cured i would be 100% happy currently98%happy . What do you think?

People like what car they like and there's not always much logic behind it. My wife loves her 2015 Acura MDX. She gets to sit up higher, but not too high and it's roomy and is pretty quick. I think it's nice, but still drives too "truckish" for me. Great for hauling 4 guys and golf clubs though. She did not like my 06 Acura TL. Too low, too small, no AWD, etc., but I loved it. I thought she would like my 2016 328iX GT since it's not as low, not as small and has AWD, but she says she HATES it...not dislike, but hate. I ask her why and she says "I don't know, I hate that it has 3 driving modes and it starts in Comfort where it's kind of slow". Me: "Well push the button for Sport". Her: "Well maybe I don't like it because it looks ugly and it's silver. the TL is sharp looking in black". Whatever I like my car lol.

my mrs likes the superior comfort of her f15 x5
i try to tell her there is a lot of price point difference between the 2 hence you can't expect the same ride(it has air suspension)noise insulation etc.
i have realized that it is futile to get her to like my GT as she doesn't hate it but just loves the x5 too much

i was driving the x5 for a week as Mrs was away on an all girls holiday for a week and thought might drive it for variety.
sat back in my GT today and realized how much i love it over the X5. The X5 is sublime and handles just as well but is like a BUS to drive.

I test drove some late model X3 and X5 when I was shopping around and they are very nice, but I prefer driving a car.

My wife was funny when we shopped for her. She drove a Highlander and liked it, then drove the MDX and then she sat in an RX350 and an X5 and refused to even drive them. Once she drove the MDX that was it. I've had 2 Acuras and love 'em, but I liked the X5.
