This new series started off well but last nights' was boring. Was bored within 5-10 mins of watching it and hope it would improve. It didn't.

Borneo ... a very poor rehash of the sort of thing Clarkson and co were doing 10 years ago. It was new then, better and funny.

It's been said more than once before but the old formula had got tired even when Clarkson, Hammond and May were doing it. The people who've replaced them have largely tried to follow that same formula but, to be blunt, they just haven't been as good at it as Clarkson & Co (and hence a programme that was already in decline has gone downhill even faster IMO).

I do actually like the proper car reviews Chris Harris does but to be realistic they probably belong on a niche channel on the internet - I suspect most of the viewing public on a channel like BBC2 probably wouldn't be interested in a programme dedicated exclusively to reviewing cars!

Yep, Chris Harris is a pucka motoring journo - formerly Evo, Autocar etc - as well as having raced cars. He knows about cars and knows how to drive them. He's not a natural in front of the TV studio camera though.
Flintoff and McGuiness are there for their entertainment value. Problem is that whilst they're shouty, energetic and laddish enough, that's all they are. They just don't have the charisma, wit or personality of their predecessors, so when the script gets a bit lame, as it did in the last episode, it shows them up. Clarkson and co could get away with poor material, these guys can't.

It started well, went to just OK, but this last one was utter c**p
I actually think the show would be much improved if they stopped messing around and showed us some cars now and then. I'd watch it if they did more bits like the RR Cullinmess rather than watch the whole episode at 2x speed on the TiVo.
Leave the cocking about to the boys who can do it, you know, the ones on Amazon

Maybe it's my age, but I find McGuiness just crass, aggressive and annoying. No class!

No class. You'd run a f***ing mile if you bumped into him at the bar, on a plane or worse still on holiday. Shouty, opinionated, superficial, oafish etc etc

They sound nothing like how Yorkshire people talk!

They are both from Lancashire, Paddy from Bolton and Flintoff from Preston. Paddy Mcguiness has always talked like that, Flintoff has to a degree but I think working with Paddy is bringing it out more.
The north is just the north.

Nout to do with where the guys are from. They're not good at presenting, end of story, and are getting shoutier and more laddish in order to compensate.

The most annoying accents to my ears are Scouse or Essex and then anything "wheeler dealer geezer mockney cockney" to me they're more speech impediments than accents.

Was reading an article that suggested this as the new line-up.

Chris Harris. Tom Hiddleston (he's in to cars apparently). Guy Martin.

I quite like the new setup, the presenters are more natural .. they aren’t all multi millionaire smug middle aged blokes, who think that £100K+ cars are for normal people . Some will find it hard to get past the northern accents. The biggest difference is there is less focus on presenters right now .. the program is about the cars with a bit of fooling around .. not just fooling around and a little bit in the cars.

Huh?

Freddie Flintoff net worth in 2015 was £16 million and in 2019 £18 million. Currently drives Porsche 997 Turbo, Mercedes GLS350d and Lamborghini Murciélago.

Paddy McGuinness est net worth £10 million. Cars owned Aston Vantage V8, Merc CLS, Bentley Continental GT and in 2018 he spent £160K on a Ferrari California.

I would say it is the complete opposite to what you have described although tonights episode was a little more car focused. I'm generally getting less interested as the series wears on though.

Can't say I've noticed it. He's got the perfect balance of car knowledge/interest and entertainment value in my opinion.
