Multiple failures...help!!

Hi everyone,

A can of coke was spilt on my centre console a couple of days ago, so I've finally removed the iDrive unit to clean it (the wheel was VERY sticky) although everything was working.

After cleaning and drying, then reassembling very carefully, and reinstalling in the car, I then got multiple system failures when I started the car up.

Steering malfunction
DSC malfunction
Brake malfunction
Restraint system malfunction
possibly one or two more

And the iDrive unit is completely unresponsive. Neither the buttons nor the wheel are doing anything to the stuff on the screen.

Could I have blown a fuse? I didn't unplug the battery before unplugging the iDrive when I removed it.

I'm really scared I've killed my ECU or something and it's going to cost me a fortune.

Any help or advice much appreciated.

Its a 2013 F31 330D.

Thanks....

I suspect that you shorted out the KCAN at the iDrive so everything is throwing error codes as the network is shorted.

Shorted out the KCAN? That doesn't mean an awful lot to me. Anything I can do about that?

I think I probably need a BMW specialist to look at it, anyone know one in London (pref SW) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Took it to Munich Power in Redhill. Jim was great...he found that a fuse was blown to a control box that was controlling various other boxes and hence lots os systems went down. All up and running again now.
