looking at the photos , you would never have guessed it was the same car !!!!

I think the law should be changed to make the reseller post accident , publish the photos of the damage to the vehicle if requested .

I for sure would not want to drive that vehicle or pay that much for it , professional repair or not !!!!

imagine the poor bugger who buys this, thinking it couldn't have been bad that till they log in here and see the actual photos! regardless of the repair, I wouldn't buy anything with accident/damage next to it

In fairness to the trader he does say photos of the damage are available.

The wheel refurb is impressive

Imagine a system whereby repaired cars had to have colour-coded panels to indicate previous damage. So all new panels have to be painted red with a large number on them in yellow indicating the extent of the repair (1 = slight, 2 = moderate, 3 = severe)... and for red cars you could use white panels. Underside and mechanicals could also be colour-coded.

A buyer seeing a grey F31 where all the panels on the drivers side were red with large 3's on them, wheel arches an suspension components all sprayed red etc., would really drive it home

Agreed - the seller is being very open saying Cat S damage. I had to look that up.

Cars written off in Category S have suffered structural damage, such as damaged bumpers, a twisted chassis or a collapsed crumple zone.

I wouldn't touch anything with that.

Trouble is there’s plenty out there who would buy it as a cheap premium car and perhaps sell on without declaring??

Strange thing I’ve seen a few transporters with crash damaged cars with their plates taped over. Is this as they’re not going to be recorded??

When I had my S2000 I bought a set of wheels off a bloke who was importing write off S2000s from Japan, repairing them and selling them on as non crash damaged as they weren’t recorded over here.

Naughty naughty.

Usually that's so the cars on the trailers don't ping ANPR and Speeding cameras...

The towing vehicle has to display it's registration mark on the back of the vehicle. Displaying any other registration mark on the rear is an offence with a fine of up to £1000. Hence, either removing or covering up any plates which could be seen.

Same thing happened to me many years ago where i purchased a Mitsubishi fto which had been imported from japan. Turned out the car had had some significant accident damage which i didnt realise as i was fairly young and naive and it was only when i sold the car on to a trader who then had someone wanting to buy it who did a AA inspection on it and they found it was a complete death trap.

Would never buy an import or written car again unless i knew the extent of the damage!!!!

Remember in the old days (not so much now) you'd see a car like a Mini or something with decent enough bodywork but 'crabbing' along the road because it had been so badly pranged at some point. Thing is from inside the car you probably couldn't tell.
