Exhaust Recommendation

Newbie here! Looking for exhaust recommendations for my sons 2013 328i.

All the exhaust threads seem to focus on turbo engines. His is a naturally aspirated I-6.

Want something moderately aggressive but not obnoxious.

I have seen the aftermarket muffler only and cat-back systems from Magnaflow.

Does anybody have experience with either or any do-it-yourself setups?

Not sure how directly applicable to your vehicle, but here's a general DIY approach that can work: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=819125

Also, if there is a resonator in addition to muffler (in midpipe), deleting that is usually a cheap first step, <$100

Pretty sure that the car is a Turbo? If you gave us the correct Model? It is either an N20 or N26 Turbo engine.

If it is an Inline 6 then the model would be a 335i. Which is Turbo as well.

The 2013 BMW 328i sedan comes with a 240-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine

AWE exhausts sound the best. Full rich deep sound. Just do the axle-back because AWE midpipe makes it a lot louder

I have experience with the same car. I had a Magnaflow and it was was loud and had a nice deep sound. But it also droned in the cabin and it bothered me enough to get an AWE exhaust instead. All depends on what you want to spend and what you find acceptable.

I'm also interested in this. I have a catless DP and I'm trying to determine if I should look at eliminating my secondary cat or getting a different muffler. I'm more interested in power output than sound. What's the next most restrictive component after the DP?

Cats are far more restrictive than resonators and mufflers, which are typically straight through design with resonance chambers

I clicked on your profile and saw some pictures of the car I think you're asking about. And you're not wrong when you say it is a 2013 328i, but you left off that it is a coupe. That means you have the previous generation car - which explains the NA I6. (All the F-series cars have turbo I4 or turbo I6)

You'll find better advice looking in the E90 forum: https://www.e90post.com/forums/

EDIT: I see now that it says "coupe" in the little blurb under your name.
