My First Automatic
I just started getting into watches. This is my first automatic, a Seiko SNZG15K1. I do not have the funds for some of the great watches I see on this forum. However, I like the look of this Seiko 5. Tell me what you think.

Very nice look - uncluttered but still with some unique style - so many of those cram everything into the center of the dial. I'm also fairly new to the watches, but getting hooked pretty quick. And I love the Seiko's - they appeal to my 'craftsmanship over hype' ethic, first rate and all in-house, but sort of an underdog among the fashionistas. My first one was a 007, still my daily. Haven't figured out how to load pics yet.

Seiko makes excellent watches.
Fun fact: Seiko will never sell a watch that has been certified under the relatively easy to pass Swiss chronometer (COSC) standard because only "Swiss Made" watches are eligible. So, if one is looking to buy a Seiko or a Swiss piece don't let the COSC certification get in the way of your decision.

Seiko is a great brand with a lot of history and their higher end divisions make spectacular movements. A true watch enthusiast will have a few Seikos in their collection. If you are considering other Seikos be sure to take a look at the SKX or Sumo series.

For anyone looking to buy their first automatic and want some instant “watch cred”, take a look at the offerings from Orient. Just like Seiko and Citizen, all their movements are in-house, and they’re a bit less commonplace on American wrists.

Nice way to start! You won't go back to quartz anymore.
