That would be super useful! Sometime tonight or tomorrow I'm gonna scour the internet for 320i dynos and try to compile them. I just see so many different numbers and the mods/tunes with it don't really add up properly. I would definitely PayPal you 20$ for your dyno information lol, it'd be great info for a lot of us 320i drivers.

On the 320i, I would upgrade the entire exhaust before going stage 2 (not just the down pipe), due to the fact that the midpipe is smaller (65mm on 320 vs 75mm on 328) and the rear muffler being a single exit and not dual exit and of course along with upgraded intercooler and charge pipes as well.

I've seen more than one guy break an axle on a 320i with a stage 2 setup. I don't remember who, but if you search around you might be able to find it. It's not likely but it has happened, which I don't think can be said for the 328i, at least not to my knowledge.

Probably related to not preloading the drivetrain correctly at launch or "Axle hop". I doubt there is anyone on big sticky slicks with a 320i, but that could also be a possibility lol.

Preloading is more so of a manual thing, but you get the gist of it. Every cv joint, gear, mount etc has a bit of slop in it, so you want to take all the slop out, before you drop the clutch. This is really simple on an auto, as most people racing with an auto know how to brake boost/power brake, but on a manual, it takes a bit of work.

Yeah the whole video is abot burbles but I think the guy said he had a new downpipe and the FMIC so he would be flashing to Stage 2 anyway. He seems happy lol

I have been running with Celtic flash tune for a year now. No issues related to power upgrade. Celtic tuning claims to add 99hp to stock 320i and can't blaim then. Car is really fast, even that it is xDrive model. They do present dyno figures on their pages and local dealer also offered option to have car dynoed. I did not need it since i believe in road performance more than numbers on paper. Data logging shows car boosts 22 psi on WOT. No other mods have i done, only dual exhaust end muffler with better air flow. If i would live in warmer climate, i would definately upgrade FMIC, since intake temperature builds up quickly when flooring it. I just suggest to consider a proper flash tune, instead of messing with ethanol mixtures and JB4 etc piggybacks. I've heard people breaking their engines with ethanol. This is just my opinion for it. Everyone can do what suits best to them! |
