ConnectedDrive Upgrades - Canada

Hello Everyone,

I want to let you know that we have made some changes and upgrades to ConnectedDrive in Canada. These changes are part of the requirements to bring the Connected App to Canada, along with new features and functionality.

The first change is we have moved to a new back end for ConnectedDrive which means customers will need to re-register for ConnectedDrive in Canada at the new Portal. The link is https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.ca

Customer's can now create their own ConnectedDrive account and map vehicles themselves. There is also the ability to have multiple vehicles associated to one user.

Once you create a new account, you will need the full VIN of your vehicle to add it to your account. Once added, a PIN code is sent to the vehicle which must be verified in the portal in order to complete the mapping process.

We haven also fixed the issues with the remote app for Point of Interest (POI) searches and destination downloads. You will have to use your new account details as the old account information is no longer valid.

I know this took longer than expected, but we had to wait until this new back end was implemented before the fix could go into production. We have always remain committed to you the customer and getting these issues fixed while we wait for the new Connected App.

Which brings me to my last point. We have confirmed that the Connected App will launch in Canada in October. I am sure that this is later than some had hoped for, but I can tell you that even this date was a stretch as Canada had been pushed into 2019 based on resources constraints.

Please leave me any feedback that you might have on the new portal and store. We are looking forward to this new chapter in ConnectedDrive and digital services for the Canadian market.

Just registered and tried to add my car, but came back with a system error. Likely short term, so will try again later.

I'm receiving a similar error, saying the vehicle cannot be added.

I check my vin many time and no typo but it said my vehicle is invalid. Any clue what I should do next? Yes I typed in all 17 characters.

Update: when I copy and paste from the notes I store, it doesn't have the space but I retype and it automatically insert spaces between sets of characters and now works. Thanks for the update.

on a side note -- you should become the representative on this forum for BMW Canada. I feel like the people in this forum are huge advocates for BMW and will talk about this through word of mouth. I found this post from our group chat --- so its working!

Thanks for the support. As indicated by my updated post, it's working.

So I tested two things that I frequently used and here is the result:

(1) sending location of interested to the car after the search in the map tab.
Result: it said sent but I did not have time to verify since since I am away from the car. Will update you in two days cuz I am away.

(2) remote lock the car
Result: tried sending after minute gives an error (attached)

Hi! I am not able to locate my car in the remote app. I turn off and on the option in idrive. Still can't locate
