Fitting a 335 muffler to our 328...res delete at the same time?
So my Son is fitting an axle back 2015 335 muffler to his 2016 328 msport - it's really just about aesthetics going from a twin single sided
exhaust exit to the dual single sided of the 335/340 / question is this is an easy opportunity to ditch the resonator(s) your opinion as to whether we should? I've searched a bit and I find a lot of muffler/res delete etc...but not much on a simple res delete on an otherwise stock exhaust I enjoyed my dinan midpipe on my B58 - so just curious if this is worthwhile while it's up on the lift TIA |

Lol stop. Resonators are not restrictive and deleting one will not add any power. All resonator deletes do is add drone and "mad pops, bangs, gunshots" for the burble bro crowd. Now if there is a secondary cat on your car like the n26, go ahead and delete that. If you are looking for the restriction, its the catted down pipe, focus on that instead...

Nothing behind the cat has any substantial impact on power.

OP, there's really no reason to ditch the resonator. I kept and plan to keep my stock one. The resonator is designed to tune out certain unwanted frequencies to make the car sound better, not to lessen the volume of the exhaust. So I really don't see a reason to get rid of it, even though lots of people do.

I saw a burble bro yesterday droning his way down 1792 (main road in Orlando) in his 2 series... loud and if im honest a bit obnoxious.
...having said that, my friend and I removed his entire exhaust from his M3 17 yrs ago and drove it through downtown La Jolla.. granted it was a 1 time thing. |

If you're happy now than don't change anything

Have the shop make a 3" pipe from the downpipe back. should be pretty cheap. It'll add sound for sure. If it's too drone-y... which it won't be with that stock muffler.... get a Vibrant Performance resonator. and throw that in the middle of the exhaust.

So he ended up with the 335 muffler and then simply had the rear most resonator eliminated and has the exhaust flap permanently opened. Drove the car 1st with the 335 muffler and flap opened, it was slightly louder and a bit more throaty, but not by much really more of a cosmetic thing. Then with the rear resonator removed it was slightly louder (maybe 5%), no drone, no cheap sound - basically still sounds like stock.

I had a AA exhaust on my previous F31 with N20.....and I loved the sound. I had OEM downpipe and OEM resonated midpipe on the sportwagon.
