Ok, if you're right regarding individual driving characteristics, how long could it take to do some different suspension calibrations? Not a year and a half.

I disagree on the new coupe affecting sales of the new sedan. Yea, some people may cross-shop, but they're going to sell a bunch either way, so introduce them together or closer than they are.

To me, since BMW just introduced the sedan, shouldn't the coupe come a year later, like late 2012, instead of 2013?
I wish it would - my warranty is up next August and I'm ready for a new car!

we still don't see a lot, but it looks very promising at least proportion wise:
it looks lower, the side lines are flowing nicely and it seems that the trunk is less wide than on the e92, which in my opinion makes it look a lot more sporty (aka aston martin)...
I think it's going to be a beauty!!! less just hope for no screw ups for the headlight and a better (classier) looking interior than the f30...

I thought the guy who won't get the new 3 because of the headlight to grill connection was putting too much weight on such a minor thing, but you may have topped him.

As Shakespeare wrote,
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

So it is with BMW's 3 series coupe, now being called a 4 series.
It's still on of the finest coupes on the road that mere mortals can afford.
Calling it the 4-series places it upmarket from the 3-series. The E92 and E93 were always offered with a more luxurious set of standard features than the E90 (bi-xenons, leather, etc).

Look at the two pictures below. There is almost no difference in overhang length, and any different comes from the deceptive camo pattern and BMW's added body pieces that accompany the pattern. Stop whining, for christ's sake. It's just a car. YOU'RE NOT BUYING THE CAMOUFLAGED CAR. And if you hate it when it's unveiled, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT.
Exactly!

My 2 cents...

I hate the idea of a 4 series.. that should be the sedan if anything...

Also what is up with the ugly round tail lights.. I hope that isn't going in...

Does anybody pay attention?

They're just test-mule taillights so the car is road-legal without having to reveal the shape of the taillight housing.

that's what the said last time too. Only time will tell.

if it follows the E90/E92 route, im pretty sure the tail light design would be different between the F30/F32

Good job capturing the look. If the F32 is revealing this amount of detail during test runs, I can't imagine it's going to be 18 months before it's introduced to consumers.

I will wait to see the real deal before I make final judgement, but the stats seem to be moving away from what I am looking for. I want the smallest BMW I can get that can still provide enough function for a daily driver. I own a 335 E92, and while I love it I actually feel it is too big. I frequently have more fun driving my wife's e46, and it even has the 325 engine. Her shorter car feels so much more agile than mine.

So now my choices are an even larger 3 series, or a smaller but kind of ugly 1 series (in my humble opinion).

I have this odd feeling that they are going to make the 3 series sedans only and the 4 series will have coupes. So that its like the 5 6 7 and the missed 8. Also i think this might be a way to stick it to Audi. I know this sounds dumb because that would mean the end the line of the M3 coupes.
