Both cars seem like winners, I think the 335i's 0-100km/hr times aren't very impressive though.
Given the 10k Euro price difference, I would think the 335is (whenever it comes out) would be a more fair matchup. |

+1. I agree the Audi has a better exterior design, as well as interior design in my opinion.

BMW is catching up with Audi on the interior, and I prefer the styling of the F30 more all around, in spite of the stupid cut in the hood line.
The Audi has a kind of melted bar of soap look. The F30 is more taunt and crisp. I think the F30 will age better too. |

Umm...I don't remember there being radio preset buttons or heated seat buttons that were one touch. I wasn't in the car that long though so I could be wrong.

i always consider audi to have a little better exterior styling but comparing them side-by-side.. the bmw wins by a mile. the audi looks straight dull and lifeless next to the bimmer.

The way I see it;
BMW - Better looking body, better looking interior and exterior. Audi - Better transmission (DCT), better engine w much more tuning power and a much better suspension/driveline with LSD and awesome rear diff. Looking at the specs; my choice is the Audi but I can't get over how ugly it is.

I like the new 3er over the Audi S4. Hell I even like the E92 335is over the S4 or the S5. I think $10K is too much. Maybe $5K for the extra power would make sense but not $10K.
Also, Audi is heavy due to its AWD setup and tends to have a inherent exaggerated under steer from the reviews not to mention the steering feel is less sharper then BMW's.

Should there be a 335is, probably a better comparison, and price difference would be a wash. Nether has impressive 0-100 times, a lot slower than what has been reported by many other tests. Having endured though carbon buildup on Audi FSi engines, I promised myself to pass on anything that has FSI on the engine cover. With that said, I don't find the 335i particularly inspiring either...

Audi has not fixed the issue, the CB is less grave on the 3.0T than as exhibited on the 4.2 FSI, but it is still present nevertheless. There are several owners that have posted pictures once their intake manifolds have been open. No where near as ugly as on the V8 FSI, but certainly plenty of carbon buildup traces on the back of the valves, especially at the stem. Again, far better, but no real cure, anyone that believes that is drinking the VAG Koolaid. Spoke to my Audi service manager recently (who has given me several free CB scrubs despite battling with Audi corporate and is always a genuine guy), and the CB issue far surpasses that of it solely plaguing the R8/RS4's 4.2 FSI. Just ask his techs are making a good living off laborious cleans on the 5.0 V10 engines (S6 most notably as the R8's don't have enough miles on them yet), 3.2 FSIs, 4.2FSIs, even the lowly 2.Slow FSIs. So yeah, no Audi FSI engine in the near future for me personally considering how AofA (and AG) had been denying it for years while our cars were under warranty, and now that they are not dealers are openly running CB cleaning 'specials'. It is public knowledge, in the official VAG patent which is open to anyone to read, the Audi engineers themselves professed it will be prone to carbon buildup. Anyhow, not to digress from the current topic. PS: Looks like the next generation VAG engines will include port injection along with being FSI (similar to what Lexus/Toyota have done), the main reason being keeping CB at bay... PS2/Edit: Here is a link to a B8 S4 owner's internals once opened up, definitely Carbon Buildup: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4b8/msgs/22027.phtml

I do agree on the suspension and driveline, the Audi does have a proper LSD and Quattro. Downside though it's a lot heftier, 188kg or 414 lbs, according to the article. Also, I noticed there weren't any lap times done but I'm pretty sure the 335 would prevail. |

BMW FTW. Audi even with their S4 can't get away from a 335i. The numbers are so close. Can you imagin when the new m3 comes out its going to kill the s4.

Those side by side photos make the two cars look as if they are one in the same. Don't get me wrong I love the F30. But those photos make the two appear very similar.
