DME Update: 2018 F36

Dropped car off for service today and they're flashing DME. Saw build 12 01 19 on the paperwork. Any ideas what it fixes/enhances?

I have a 2018 440i xDrive which had a DME reprogrammed as a part of a recall a week ago. I am not sure what was the reason for this recall...

Do you have more details about this recall campaign? The dealer usually has a sheet with technical details.

Picking up today. Will ask. They were loading yesterday and it crashed so had to start again. Now waiting for NAV reactivation a la PuMA to BMW.

Still haven't gotten car back. Dropped off Thurs @ 8am for 10K service. DME upgrade crashed during 1st upgrade attempt and after they successfully upgraded NAV not work so they submitted PuMA case and now being told I'll get update on Monday.

This the last I let them upgrade things. This is BS IMO. Btw, this is the 3rd time the car has had some sort of computer upgrade issue. 2nd time they replace IDrive unit after 3 days of troubleshooting, sent me home, NAV not working, back in shop again.

Their claim about it being a software error seems like copout. If it truly was a SW error, then all cars with B58 have to be checked if they were not updated to the buggy sw during a prior service.

Another point is, B58 was being fitted into cars as far back as november 2015. They had no such RPM limiter in P/N. Why doesn’t the recall apply to those as well?

My October 15 340i isn't on the list obviously.
It is also the loudest most poppy and bangy MPPSK car I've heard. I freaking love it.

The service bulletin says:
Quote:
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
Even if the car’s production date is outside of the quoted range, any of these systems will indicate that the car needs an update if its software version (I-Level) has the bug.

Do you know that for sure?

My read on this: the limiter was working as intended in the original DME software for B58, and then somewhere along the way, this bug crept in, rendering it ineffective.

Mine was built in 03/2016. I was wrong though, SOP for 340i was in 07/15:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...6&d=1432928737

I know for a fact it had no such limiter at 4k RPM in P/N. I got mine updated this august due to MPPSK.
