Front Seat Swaps BMW / Aftermarket

Curious if anyone has swapped out the seats on an F30/F31 to something more sporty / comfortable?

Obvious choice would be M3 Seats? I did 37K in mine last year so open to ideas.

Thanks

Would be interested in more details on the runners - are they available off the shelf?

Are the CS's direct from Recaro or, are they from another brand of car?

My own fitment, CNC brackets to mount onto standard BMW runners. I bought a set of front BMW seats as donors for passenger occupancy sensor, seatbelt clips and wiring harness.

CS were fitted to many cars, Renault, Lotus, Ford, Vauxhall, etc. But you either buy other brand and have them re-trimmed, or new. They were the only seats I considered as probably the only aftermarket seats that have side airbags.

Ok, sounds interesting!

Sorry yes I know there are lots of CS options direct from other manufacturers. I meant are you using CS’s from another car - or brand new from Recaro?

Reason for asking is that I assume not all CS’s will have the same mounting points underneath - as various manufacturers will have different mounting points / requirements?

Whereas new from Recaro - I imagine they have a ‘standard’mounting point set up underneath which then require car specific runners / mounts

There is a standard Recaro frame underneath, with flat L shaped brackets that OEM's use to attach their brackets to. I think that part is universal. Although I have noticed Renault in particular use a different backrest adjuster, so have perhaps a more integrated solution.
Mine started out as Lotus Evora seats.

What mounting hardware did you end up using?

I made my own CNC machined brackets from L section aluminium. Bolted between Recaro and the lower part of the BMW frame. So I kept the BMW fore/aft slider adjuster and all the BMW seat functionality, side airbags, occupancy sensor, seal belt pretensioners, seat heating, etc.

We are Recaro dealers. The Sportster CS is the one to go for, as Gordon says. There is a choice of trims, with and without side airbags etc. We have a 2 series here with them in if you'd like to sit in it. Recaro baseframes are available for F3X at £215 each, and we can offer a deal on seats with frames. Nearly all aftermarket Recaros are made to order with a 6 week lead time. OEM and aftermarket are entirely separate though, so we can't help with fitting OEM seats from another model.

How much do you charge for Recaro CS that’ll swap right into an F3x Lorcan?

2 x inc VAT?

Generally on seats...

There is a chap on eBay who does Recaro/BMW P seat sets.
They’re obviously built up to look like BMW P versions, so identical in mechanical/visual terms, but often just with re-trimmed covers to look correct.

Good thing is you’ll probably not lose much money on proper BMW P ones, or very good quality replicas.

Buying new Recaro ones, you might suffer some loss in value.

Personally I’d get M3/M4 seats.

Electric adjustable, a bit firmer so you feel more of what the car is doing, comfier too imo, and hold you in place better.
Plus heating.
Plus cheaper.
Plus nice leather.

And probably plenty good enough for any cooking F3x.

Another one interested to know what the total price is for a set of F3x CS’s would come in at.

Do they have a close match to cream / oyster leather available in the aftermarket range?

It’s like talking into the abyss when you ask for official dealer prices so they’ll actually fit a BMW.

CS as standard ~ £2,200.

Extras ~ £1,000 from what I gather.

Better off buying from that eBay chap because he actually replies, and he’ll do covers exactly how you want them (BMW P clones in any colour)

Though for F3x, you probably want M Performance branding, as BMW P was the late E generation stuff?

Sorry I missed your reply, I wasn't tagged in and don't get on here every day.

Retail prices for the seats are attached, we can offer 10-15% off, email me for a proper quote. We have one non-airbag CS seat in the showroom (passenger side) in black ambla leather that we can offer 25% discount as a display model.

Base frames are £215 each (inc vat).

I would recommend the Ambla leather/ Dynamic suede finish. If you choose the non-airbag version you'll need some resistors to prevent warning lights, which we can supply from Recaro.

The prices above are for black. Recaro can also make up the seats from a range of leathers, starting with a "similar" cream/oyster which costs little/no extra up to these genuine BMW leathers which cost extra, depending on what you want exactly.

Ok, so they offer an oyster option?

Or is this extra?

The colours in the colour chart above can be had at the standard price but they are not exact matches. If you want an exact match they have to use BMW leather, which is extra.
