In the market for this Mod , so can anyone confirm especially who have it installed that it will out perform a drop in K&N Filter , since they both closed boxed .

It makes sense that it would. The filter element is larger so it can flow more air and will be less of a restriction, while still maintaining the cold air element with a close box system.

Just replaced the aFe cold air intake on my M240i from the previous owner with a Dinan CAI. The aFe kept throwing a CEL and the dealership wouldn't touch it or anything near it, so going Dinan was the way to go.

As others have mentioned, getting the clips off it probably the most difficult part of the installation process. Wear gloves while doing this part! Got a few cuts on my fingers before I learned my lesson.

As for results, it's quieter than the aFe but feels smoother. And I cleared the CEL, and it hasn't come back on yet.

I know that value for the money spent is a subjective thing, and everyone has their own opinion on this, but for me, I was quite pleased with the results. So for those folks who want to see quantifiable results I am posting my before and after dyno runs which resulted in increases of 11HP & 12FPT at the wheels. Reviving old thread. Thanks for this dyno. It seems there's a huge torque loss up to about 3400 rpms. If this is accurate, you probably noticed this when driving part throttle and full throttle when accelerating from a stop. Please confirm. I know have reported car feels slower down low and better midrange.
