I am at 30k miles. the squeal happens not only when A/C is on, just the fan is enough, pressing the A/C off button still makes the squeal, so I am kinda at a loss, I dont think there is some belt driven fan? Or does the compressor run even when the A/C button is off (but the cooling fans are running, just the button on the right bottom is toggled to off) When I turn all cooling off (pressing the lower AC intensiny button till the panel shuts off) it stops squeaking
For me it now happens in gears 1->2, 2->3 even slightly 3->4. I am scheduled for end of august for mppsk, I will mention it then and see what they say. |

I've had a weird squeak (almost a light chirp) happen when my car is cold, and generally happens in the first 3 gears around ~2200 rpms. It happens when I give just a little bit of gas and then when I let off the gas, always around the same spot. Usually goes away after a few minutes, doesn't seem to matter if AC is on or off.
Took it to the dealer and they couldn't reproduce it after 3 days of having it. Started making the noise about a month and half ago around 13000 miles and year old. |

Did they go into any detail as to why they replaced the AC compressor?

That's kind of what I thought as well, but I am by no means an expert. It's hard to reproduce, and seems to only happen in temps less than 70F when engine is cold. Haven't heard it since my MPPSK install, but probably because I'm always driving around with it in loud mode now
What sort of BOV does the B58 have? Does it vent or recirculate? |

The past couple days I've noticed that the car will start at 1100ish RPM and idle fine for about 2 seconds, and then it drops to about 600ish RPM and sort of shudders and just overall idles roughly (but never close to stalling). When I drive, the roughness goes right away and idle after start is fine. Anyone have this happen? My car is still stock.

the initial phase has the engine slightly higher in idle to help with warmup then the idle drops as the coolant heater kicks in perhaps the shudder is the effect of the heater drawing engine power I've never heard of anyone stalling in the cold-start process so its likely so |

My 18k mile 2017 440i Gran Coupe has been out of commission for over a month due to a misfiring problem.
Car started running rough one day, feeling very sluggish and sounding almost like a motorcycle. Ran codes and it showed 110001 Cylinder Injection Shutdown, 120408 Reduced Power Mode, 140210 Cylinder 2 misfire. Restarted the car, it seemed to run better (still very shaky) limped over to Center BMW in Van Nuys,CA where they kept it for a week. Was then told to pick the car up as it was repaired (they never told me what they fixed) and the car broke down again with the same problem about an hour after leaving the dealership. Had the car towed back and they refused to work on it. They told me it needs a new engine, and its a $27k non-warrantied repair. Only mods apart from wheels and suspension are a resonator delete and the BMS Intake, which they are trying to blame for the problem. Car is still dead in my driveway

Always a bummer to hear about non-covered issues during warranty due to modifications. I'm not brave enough to do something like that on these incredibly high tech modern engines.
I guess nobody has had any issues with the reverse mounting of the B58 engine with the chains and VANOS system toward the back. I want to jump in and get a 540i but I don't want a 7000 dollar bill to drop an engine just to replace a chain tensioner. |
