I travelled down to DMS with a friend at the weekend to get our cars mapped, having seen some of the figures quoted I was optimistic for the results, I'd taken the Powerizer off the day before in preparation, I'd also filled up with Tesco memento fuel.

The run before the map showed 348 bhp, baring in mind the only mods that could effect this is the Remus cat back system and a Pipercross air filter. This was a higher figure than I'd expected. Once the map was applied the car was dyno'd a second time, the results were 415bhp and about 440 torque. What is interesting is my friends 340 dyno'd 444bhp.

The guys at DMS had expected the car to come in around the 430 mark and thought the lower number could be for a number of reasons

1, the air flow sensor might have oil on it from the Pipercross air filter, causing it to drop in power, I've now put the oem filter back on.
2, the fuel I'd filled up with the day before is full of additives, causing a drop in power, all the previous cars with higher numbers had apparently used shell v power.
3, the car has less than 8k miles on it, so is still loosening up

I'm no mechanic so have no idea if any of the above could be causing it, or is it simply that no 2 cars will produce the same figures and mine is at the lower end.

415 is still a respectable number so I'm happy, I'm planning a retest once I've ran some shell v power for a while. Just to see if fuel really makes any difference

So many things can affect dyno #s. I would not worry about it. Your car could have been pulling timing, the way the car is strapped on the dyno, tire pressure, type of tires, conditions when both cars were dynoed etc etc etc all will affect #s.

Next, @ 8k miles, the motor is not "loosening" up. It would have made the same power at 1k miles and it will make the same power at 20k miles.
