To summarise, without changing my existing set of 19 inch alloys, is it ok to go all square with 245/35? Sorry if it’s a daft question, relatively new to this!

Yes you can have a square set up that is not a problem as long as you get the correct tyre sizes that fit the rims 245x35x19 all round will fit on the staggered wheels widths.

Have a look here to https://www.willtheyfit.com/ so you can check fittings.

I’m on the hunt for 245/40/18 & 265/40/18 winters.

Considering PA4’s primarily, not much choice for 265/40/18 sadly!

I've got to say I'm torn on what to do. I'd love to go all season but if I did that I'd want to keep original tyre sizes to maintain similar handling qualities but I don't think anyone does 255/40/18 in all season, definitely not Michelin Crossclimate+ which is what I'd want.

Second preferred option is to go winter on my current wheels with the view to buy some 19's in the spring but do I go 225 all round which is a fair bit cheaper and more suited to any snow we have than going 255 on the rear. Even then options are limited again but my current favourite Vredestein Wintrac Pro are available in all options. Plus do I really want 225's on the rear!?

Keep going back to all season though, if Michelin CC+ was available in 255 size it would reduce a lot of the hassle for me with very little compromise.

I intend to put Michelin crossclimates on mine when it needs new rubber (had them on my old E90 and was impressed). I've looked at the sizes available and will go for the 235/45/18 on the rear 8.5J, should be fine.

Sizing isn't a particular issue, but having xDrive is!

Morning chaps,

As a relative newbie I also have a daft question - I've seen a set of winters that are 225/50 R17 for a decent price, will these fit my new F36 GC? The car's come with 225/45 R18's on the front and 255/40 R18's on the back.

Cheers

Just the regular M-Sport ones, not M-Sport plus, so I guess they'll be fine in that case?

Are there any all weather tyres available in sizes to fit standard MS+ 19" alloys for x-drive models (apologies if this has been asked and answered, haven't had time to read the whole thread).

Your only option would be Vredestein Quatrac 5's or Maxxis AP2's in 245/35 all round. I wouldn't recommend the Maxxis though!

If I could have got the Quatrac 5 in a 275 width on a 19inch rim I think I'd have gone for them instead of the full winter Pilot Alpin 4s.

They’re meant to be very good when new, but the performance drops off quite a bit when half worn.

I found 4 Nexen Winguard Sport 2 235/35 R19 for around £440. That's not bad right? Anyone had them on the car before?

They don’t look too bad for that price, although really you need 235/40’s
