DIY: LCI LED radio/ac trim retrofit (with pre-made wiring harness

Hey guys, another vid I made for anyone looking to upgrade their trim to the LCI one with the LED lighting. Your car must have the ambient lighting option (you can check by seeing if the lower trim above the cupholders have an LED light that turns on when the interior lights are turned off - turning the light switch to position 1)

Tools required:
- Ratchet/T20 bit or T20 screwdriver
- Flathead screw driver
- Trim removal tool (optional)

Trim part number: 64119358940 (PM for a parts source for this)
- Wiring harness: ebay item 173343122030

Nice, thank you. FYI on the 2016 F36, we have ambient light but no cupholder LED.

There are custom cables on eBay to take power from the footwell lights instead. I have not tried (yet).

is it just me or the last picture seems to be a matte finish ? Did you make some mods to it ? I would be really interest for a matte finish one.

Ah damn. I'm sure you'll get it done to get that extra light working. I think those lower panels are expensive.. I would buy an led, drill a tiny hole, hot glue and you should be set.

Haha, yes. I did plasti-dip it temporarily since I don't like the gloss look. In the spring I will sand it and paint it matte black so it lasts longer.

Hehe, yes you do! It's my Yaesu FT7900R

I can post up some pics of the install later on today of the setup. I'm currently studying for the General License.

Sorry wasn't able to get to my car yesterday but the setup is as follows:

- Yaesu FT7900R. Front faceplate is mounted as you see. Cable routed to the center panel (where the idrive is) and goes all the way back to the trunk under the rear seats. The main unit is on the drivers side in the trunk in that space cubby. Speaker is routed along the drivers side and lays on the rear seat (I don't us the rear seats that much). Power/ground directly to the battery although I will tap it to the fuse box when I have a chance.

- Trunk lip NMO mount that is grounded to the trunk lid (I took off the trunk lid panel, sanded a section of the trunk, drilled a hole and connected the wire to a bolt/nut that's attached to that hole) (I will get longer wires and ground it to the frame for a better ground)

- Antenna(s) Primary is the Larsen NMO 150/450/800 and secondary is the Browning BR-180

Got a link? The only ones i could find were ones that were like 60 bucks shipped from the UK.
