Michelin CrossClimate All Season Tyres Snow Day
So, 20+ cm of snow today and temp gauge showing -6C.
Got to work and back with no hassle. Less fortunate people behind me were snarled up in a 2 hour traffic gridlock. Other cars were being manually pushed up mild inclines by helpful passerbys. CrossClimate is a summer tyre with moderate winter capability. It did everything I asked of it. No surprises, no shocks (except perhaps other people seeing a RWD BMW pull away from them). |

Cornering wasn't the best last night on these .. but traction is very good. You just need to be careful on the bends, they're not as good as decent full winter tyres on handling.

Yes for greatly improved traction in the snow .. they will keep you moving in most conditions .. but you will have to drive very slowly and carefully as you would on summer tyres as the handling and breaking wouldn't be anywhere near as good as if you had them on all four corners.
So yes theoretically you could put them on the rear wheels only so you can get around much easier in the snow.. but would I recommend it? No Note: If you are intending to put winter rated tyres on the rear wheels only, these are the only ones you should since they are based on a summer tyre and have similar characteristics to summer tyres in warm dry weather. |
