Why do people kid them selfs?

Oh dear! Why do people do it! The way I see it is you're only kidding yourself. People who are in the know and the ones you want to impress will instantly find you out but the people who aren't in the know don't care so who are they really trying to impress?

Beats me :... it would be pretty evident on start up but again as you say those not in the know probably wouldn't notice .

Bloody stupid plate as well but each to their own.

I suppose to be fair at least he hasn't added an aftermarket m badge

Why are the tyres any skinnier? It's a 330i M-Sport which would have exactly the same tyre section as the 340i it's purporting to be.

Going back a few years I seem to remember reading that in the UK there's a tendency for people to try to make their cars look better than they are (i.e. look like a model from higher up in the range) whereas in countries like Germany the reverse is true and owners of top of the range models often tend to have them debadged to make them more understated. Seems like some things never change.....

Funny you say that as I did 1800 miles of driving in Germany recently and 90% of BMWs were de badged.

Just a bit sad really. M badges are one step but just pretending to be something your not. Get a grip!

Debadged my M2 now and love it. Sleeker look, easier to clean and non enthusiasts haven't got a clue what I'm.l driving.

It goes beyond sad, basically just a BMW owner that is unable to tell the truth and is ashamed of the 330i, which makes it worse as the 330i is a really good all round car.

Exactly if you got the POWER then you don't need badges to prove it
