How the hell do you update the maps? I can't find an option to update anywhere in the idrive.

Help!
You just plug the USB in and it comes up with a message asking if you want to update!

Cheers

Hope you've sorted it Rukka I updated mine Monday thru USB / armrest, took about 40mins whilst driving. Press Options & it should give you a command to monitor the update (percentage actioned etc.).

Yep - all sorted thanks mate

teaston was right. Worked straight away from the armrest USB.

Took over an hour to update but it's not the fastest of USB drives I used so that probably had something to do with it.

Anyway. All done. Cheers chaps

With somewhat peculiar timing, the wife's X1 had an OTA update today. Its at 2017-3 now though so no '18 map as yet.

Mine had 2018-1 and 2018-2 OTA last week, both following on consecutive days. before I hadn’t had an update for 6+ months.

Whatever the issue was, they must have fixed it.

Both updates were on 2+ hour long journeys.

USB updates will also pause if you stop the engine and will pick up the next day etc.

If I had an M4 though, I'd go for a spirited drive to avoid any update issues from pausing the process

Thats both odd and good news. Good that the updates have been received on your car after all this time, and odd that two appeared so close together.

Hopefully my car will receive them too.
