Buying a Used Canadian model in the USA

Hey all, any info to share regarding purchasing/owning a Canadian spec 430i in the US, specifically Michigan? There is one for sale that checks the boxes I'm looking for, but it is a Canada model and I'm not sure if that is an issue. The car is for sale in Ohio FWIW. Is warranty honored at all if any left, things to watch out for, etc...thanks!

The first item to check is whether the vehicle has been properly imported.

Was it ever registered and insured in the US?

If it's at a dealership, you should be ok. I'm assuming it's not hence this ask?

Don't know about your winter road maintenance, but check for a "rust check" sticker, or "krown", or something of the sort for any indication that the underbody has been sprayed to help stop rust
We tend to use a lot of salt on our roads in most places. Some only use sand. So check that.

Your main concern is whether the car is equipped as required by your state to be registered. Chances are that it is, but that's what you have to be sure of.

This....

The speedometer will most likely need to be changed though. US cars get MPH/KPH dual unit speedos, Canadian ones only get KPH.

Between Canada and US, the regulations are pretty much the same. The only difference I can think of is the speedometer being different.

Going between NA and EU for example, would be significant. You need orange turn signals, rear fog lights, etc. bunch of other things.

I agree with the concern for rust. However, with my car, there is so much under-body panels that I haven't really encountered rust issues. In general, you don't see rusted BMWs here. They hold up really well with the salt and all.

The screws that hold up my panels were really rusted however and I have replaced them. But underneath the panels there are no problems.

The only time BMWs are rusted in my experience is if they have a major dent or scratch

Where in Ohio? Send me the link.
Don’t worry. I’m not in the market and won’t steal it. Lol

Here's the car...I'm not super enthused on it at this point since the dealer hasn't been good with communication....

Where do you see that it's a Canadian model? It has the dual Miles/Kms speedo.

My thoughts as well. That is a US car unless someone swapped out the gauge cluster.

I'm with the others - they they tell you it's a Canadian car? It's a good price and appropriate miles.

Looks US spec'd to me. VIN decoder shows it should've came with style 398 wheels, so not sure what those are.

I never had good luck with North Coast Auto Mall returning calls and I live 30 minutes away. lol

Canadian spec on the build label..and the import sticker...which isn't in full view from the photos. Plus when running VIN on BMW USA it isn't valid...

It was my understanding that they are namely a dealership that rebuilds salvage cars. That's not to say all of them would be R-titles, but that most of their inventory are insurance buy backs.
