330D F30 2013 N57 - How can I improve sound?
Hey guys
30d N57 owner here First car for me and I am very happy with it However.. I love how the 330i sounds with straight pipe and some pops and bangs and I’ve already accepted the fact that I won’t be able to get such a sound with my 6cyl diesel What can I do in order to make it aggressive as fuck and sportier I feel like the car is awesome, but I have no “presence” on the road if that makes any sense😂 Would love to hear and see what you guys have done to make your N57 sound more aggressive If I remap it and add a hardcut limiter is it going to be loud and more aggressive? Looking for loud exhaust where it sounds loud as fuck when revving, or in sport/sport + mode but not so loud in Eco Pro/Comfort so I don’t attract po po.. I’m a complete beginner still, but I would like to acknowledge myself more |

If that’s your goal, you’ve bought entirely the wrong car.

I mean, its a diesel and not meant to sound ¨loud af¨.
But hey, if thats the car you have then why not. The most loudness you can get out of it is with a straight pipe exhaust the whole way from the turbo. Add a hardcut stage 2 map to that and boy o boy will that thing pop. If you want to go a easier route (and cheaper), smack on a downpipe only. I think that should be enough. I mean, you dont want to hear a LOUD diesel exhaust, nothing fancy bout that but hey with a downpipe you get that perfect level. Not to loud but you can hear a deep wroom and turbo spools. When you floor it tho it sounds loud as hell even if you only have downpipe

If you think a turbo 4-banger can sound good with pops/bangs, i think our perspectives of what sounds good is wildly different
Back in the day, all the Diesel lot i used to hang around with did a 'mufflerectomy'. Basically you lop off the backbox and sleeve on a straight pipe. Cheap and nicely reversible. It didn't sound too bad and it also wasn't too loud. I honestly think it would have a nicer tone than a 4-cyl turbo petrol. |

Sell the car and buy a petrol... It's as simple as that

N57 on a F30 is a great sounding engine if it's straight piped.
Sounds more like a petrol and much better sounding than M57. I've had DP and straight Y instead of the muffler. If it's going to be too loud then sport muffler or something. |

I’m in a similar boat with my 30d, I have a back box delete already with the 40i exit and carbon tips but it just isn’t barky enough, only a very subtle growl..
Annoyingly only other option is gutting the dpf and cat, a retune and pray it doesn’t smoke like crazy 🙏🫠 |
