Bumper Protection

Hey guys, had the shop that painted my bumper repaint it under warranty, but they said it was a one time deal since it's an aftermarket bumper. They said that based on the materials it could be that the paint was having trouble adhering to the bumper, and possibly a rock hit it to chip it. Is there any sort of thing I could do to prevent damage in the future?

I would say clear bra. I have Xpel on my entire front end (entire front bumper and hood, plus fenders) and it is damage free after 2 years! well worth it IMO.

Any place in GTA you'd recommend? Any idea cost for just front bumper?

I got mine done at Get Detailed located in Thornhill. I don't know if the bumper style factors into the pricing, but I paid $1100 all in. I would ballpark the front end at around $500.

What the body shop told you doesn't make sense....unless you haven't understood what they said properly.

What's the material for your bumper? Polyurethane?

Once the bumper is primed there is no reason for the paint to come off unless it's been in an accident or impacted. A rock or stone shouldn't be able to crack the paint to a state where it all start stripping off.

While the bumper is not warrantied by the body shop the prime and paint should be.

This isn't the first time I've heard a body shop tell me that because it's an aftermarket bumper they don't warranty the paint. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised when they covered it. And yeah it's polyurethane.

Lol alright man....

Advice - don't spend the money on 3m or clear bra if your paints just going to peel off. You'll be replacing it along with the paint.

Fair enough. I thought the explanation was off too but I can't force them to do anything. Hopefully second time's the charm!

Something like this could be quite effective to reduce bumper damage.
