big scratches after cleaning ice from the hood

I got a ceramic coating done on my f30 some weeks ago, and as I cleaned the ice off my car with a pressure washer I noticed these big scratches in the hood. Do they look deep? Any advice on what to do ?

I'd say you're in need of paint.

From the pictures it looks like something very dramatic has happened. If those white marks are actual scratches that go thru the black paint (and not just some white substance on top of the paint) then the best option is probably to paint the entire hood. Those cannot be from you just cleaning the car it looks like something heavy was dragged on top of the hood.

Probably, getting an invisible blend with a spot repair is extremely difficult.

im gonna feel it tomorrow if its a deep scratch, it probably is though. I honestly dont know what happened.
I got a ceramic coating on the entire car a few weeks ago, then winter came and covered it with ice and snow. After a week or so I cleaned it and saw these three scratches.

Ceramic coatings average 1/1000 of an inch thick. No matter how hard they may be that's not going to make the car bullet proof, or ice proof.

Come on... come clean... you know you used an ice scraper on your hood.

It says he used a pressure washer. If it was a zero degree (red) tip, it could have cause the "scratches" in the photo by peeling off paint.

A zero degree tip creates a very strong blast that can take off skin and cause serious cuts if you aren't careful.

My dog likes to bark at sprinklers and try to bite the water, so he stays locked in the house when I use my pressure washer on the sidewalk. Even a 15 degree (yellow) tip creates a spray that could tear his face off.

I've never been near the hood or any other body panels but windows with an ice scraper. i have on the other hand lent it to some friends and family in this period and it could very well be one of them doing it, even though that sounds like me not wanting to take the blame on my self. it doesnt really matter as im the one with the consequence of it regardless of who did it

Bad move with the power washer :/ It forced the ice to move across the hood and did the damage

As already suggested, you're probably going to need to repaint the entire hood. I'd also consider getting it wrapped, depending on the cost difference and color matching.

My thoughts too. Something bad happened to the paint to go through the paint and in to the primer. On the close up view, you can see the really deep marks in the surface right at the crease of hood. This was a severe mechanical action of some sort.

Could be. Had to be a large object. Even the swirling brushes in a car wash wouldn't do that unless you got one of the spinning brush shafts to make contact.

Yep. I use coatings on all my cars. I'm a huge fan of what they can do, but there no way I believe the vendor's claims of scratch resistance. Sure the product might be really hard once dry, but it's too thin to be any real defense.

If your nail drops in the scratch then it's deep. Can't really tell by the pic if it's deep tbh but might be worth going back to the ceramic coat place and giving them shit over it. I know ceramic coating doesn't make your car bullet proof but shops that do it keep pushing the "scratch proof" fact
