Going to need a bit more info then that. Does your android device show a hotspot connection? Are you doing this at home with your android device connected to your home wifi? That can sometimes interrupt the hotspot connection. make sure you aren't connected to wifi.

When I turn on my android hotspot. No wifi or bluetooth on just on mobile network. With name and password bootmod3. Boot up the pi. Wait a few minutes and still has nothing in "connected device" on my phones mobile hotspot. I see the green light on the pi flashes for a min. Then disappears. Which I assume is the wifi connection light.

So what are the recommend trouble shoot when I run the app on my android while the wifi agent is connected to my hotspot but the app doesnt detect obd2.

I tried replugging wires and resetting the negative battery.

Well I got it to detect the obd2. I redownload the app. Then it'll ask me to update the agent but I declined. Cos if I update it then it won't detect the obd.

Not sure that is true. I haven't had an issue connecting to the car via OBD after an update.

Obd agent was detected but I couldn't log or flash. But when I update wifi agent via phone app it would no longer detect obd agent. I'm not sure what to do.

@meltbox guide helped a lot. Didn't get bluetooth working but hotspot worked and finally got my pi 3b+ up and running. Now I need a nice phone mount so I can start logging and track my gauges

No doubt I could get that working. But why? It’s more expensive, uses lots more power, and I don’t see the BootMod3 app really benefiting from the upgraded hardware.

I have tried downloading it offline. I though it might be my SD card so i swapped it for another new one, but its giving me the same problem. I'm now thinking it may be the raspberry Pi 3 B. Has anybody have issue with the actual agent going bad? It gets hot here in Las Vegas so im thinking something must have happened. It shows its connected, but i tried data logging but its not picking up data. on the Lap top its perfect

So since the new app update. I'm unable to detect the obd? The agent connects to my hotspot, I see it on the connected list on my phone. But once I boot up the app it wont detect. Any ideas?

Did you update the agent firmware and your device app?

Updated the phone app. But it didn't prompt me to update my firmware on the agent like it did previously.

Power cord on agent is on the cigarette lighter charger for more current. But then again I never got notified for updating the agent for this recent update a few days ago.

i have the same issue for a couple weeks now. phone is a samsung s10. ptf asked me to try connecting the phone via usb to wifi agent, but i haven't gotten around to doing this yet since my agent is tucked away. can you test this? what phone do you have?

the wifi agent works with my much older android moto phone.

btw my phone app is version 75 and im pretty sure the agent is the latest 74.

I saw a post similar to this on the bm3 facebook page and PTF recommended flashing the SD card to firmware version 71 then update through the app.
