Parking ticket help

On Friday (22nd september) afternoon I sold a car to a french chap, who drove from my house to the midlands on the Friday night - he would drive it back to France. On that Friday morning, i called the DVLA asking them what i should do with the V5 etc, i was told to sign and date a letter letting them know the situation with him taking to France etc. I did get a tax reminder but rang the DVLA up and they said its fine but takes 2-3 weeks to process a change.

Looks like he stopped at a motorway services early Saturday morning (23rd) left at 7AM and subsequently got a Parking EYE fine and it arrived this morning at my address (obviously car still registered to me).

Don't you ignore them or something, or do I simply contact them?

Not sure what to do.

Thanks

Sold the car and not you driving.

Some will say bin, but I’d contact them and say the above.

I assume he taxed the vehicle before he drove it away?
Then that would show the vehicle had changed owners and he'd need the v5 tear off to do it.

Yup sold the car and I'm not driving.

V5 did not need to be sent off, the online system which i usually use (is not set up for selling to someone abroad). I consulted the DVLA on what to do. The key thing is the DVLA change stuff from date on the letter and its from the day before the fine.

I don't really think there's ever a (sensible) reason to "ignore" something like this.

Just contact them and tell them what's happened. See what they say and that will give you a clue as to what to do next.

What I meant was the buyer needs the v5 tear off to tax the car which he has to do before he drives away. There would therefore be traceability to a new owner - otherwise why would he tax it?

Ah okay, he takes the whole V5 with him. If he taxed or insured is up to him, i presume he did. It was taxed but not insured by me at the time.

I've sent these fuckers the letter and told them to get in contact with the DVLA, the DVLA confirmed that from the 23rd I'm not the owner.
