How long is too long to wait for a new car?

I'm on my second F30 and don't want another as it won't feel like I've changed cars so in June I ordered an A4 black edition, I got an order slot from the 1st June.

To cut a long story short there was an emissions issue so they halted production so my expected delivery of September was put back until the middle to end of December.

My delivery date is still only provisional and according to the interweb they can't source the wheels so it could slip further.

I think they're taking the piss, 7 months to build an A4!

My 330 will in the extra time need a service and rear tyres.

Fucking muppets, I'm seriously considering cancelling tomorrow.

I know it's a new car but it's hardly an exotic limited edition Italian monster, can they not get you something with a better spec that's in stock.

I would get pi**ed off and go elsewhere out of principle

I asked for the stock list and it was full of shit I didn't really want being honest, there was a nice R8 V10 on there but it was slightly out of budget.

Very annoying, do you really want the car or would you switch to another manufacturer

7 months is stupid, but you?ve waited more than half of that. It?s October now, December will be here before you know it. If it?s the car you really want and there?s nothing you want from stock, hang in there. It?s still a new car, which is always a treat. Merry Christmas :-)

Have a look what else you fancy and see if you want something better, maybe turn a negative into a positive.

Would the lease company work with you to get a better car by way of an appology?

There were people ordering Golf GTI a while back that went to a pretty long delivery and VW provided them with hire cars free of charge. This seemed to come from the manufacturer not the dealer so it might be worth making a call to see what they can do for you.

All VAG cars seem on pretty long delivery terms, I ordered a GTi on 1 July and will get it early to mid Nov.
