Hey guys! I'm planning on mounting a set of these 20" OEM Style 624M Wheels in the next week or two and just wanted some feedback as to how they handle on a daily driving basis. I'm coming off of the stock 18" OEM Style 400M Wheels and never really had an issue hitting certain potholes at high speeds on freeways in the dark (Or even at slow speeds for that matter). Although I always do my best to avoid potholes, sometimes they do catch me out of the blue.

Anyways, I just wanted to know how other owners felt running any type of 20" OEM Wheels. (624M, 405M, etc). I know there have been other posts on the forum regarding running 20" wheels. However, most of them seemed to just be comments about avoiding potholes. And so I just wanted to see if any of you guys had any daily driving experiences with OEM 20" wheels on. Nice wheels.

But you will definitely be more susceptible to bent or cracking a wheel on potholes. Assuming you stay with the same outer diameter tire as what is on your stock 400M's, you will have 1 inch less of side wall between the rim and road.

Handling and response of the car will be improved; 1-inch less sidewall means that much less flex of the tire.

But your ride quality will be not as good; again 1-inch less side wall means that much less rubber absorbing bumps. This can be made up for somewhat by tire choice but overall it will be a bumpier ride.

You also might want to try to find out the weight of your current tire/rim combination versus your potential new tire/rim combination. If the new combo weighs less, the handling of the car will be improved.

I believe there is approximately a ~3 lb drop per wheel so probably around a 12 lb drop in total in weight. I'm sticking with the pirelli p zero runflats that come with the tire set. I was originally going to put on MPS4S's, but I occasionally drive long distances and sometimes even at night so I guess having runflats would be beneficial in a worst case scenario if I were to pop a tire or take on a nail.

What wheel/tire combo are you running?

Yeah, they're quite expensive...but I purchased them off of getbmwparts.com. No tax if you live outside of the state of Maryland!

Not a whole lot cheaper, but they were sitting around $3600 during some sale back in November. Probably something to do with a black friday sale but who knows .

I was going to pick up a set of aftermarket wheels, but I plan on upgrading to the G80 M3 once it comes out or something like that, so I wanted to preserve some form of resale value. I know I could just pop on the OEM wheels when I plan on selling or trading-in later on, but I guess I'd rather not go out of my way to do so haha.

I'm running OEM 20" 624m with continental DWS06 245F/255R no issues. Always try to avoid potholes but even going over them I haven't had any issues with bending or cracking the rims.

There was a noticeable drop in comfort when I got my current car with 20s compared to the 19s I had on my previous F32. You will definitely feel bumps on the road and potholes way more. That being said, just drive carefully and try to avoid potholes and you should be fine. I don't see OEM BMW quality rims bending over normal driving conditions, but then again I haven't experienced it myself. Style wise, 20s definitely look a lot better.

On a side note, I heard the Pirelli p zero tires are horrible and will only last 20k miles before they're bald.

Yeah, I've heard from multiple people that the p-zeros wear down pretty quickly. I will be replacing them with mps4s's once they go bald. Thanks for the heads up! xXSupa

Thanks for the feedback! I thought your F36 normally runs OEM 19" 624M's from the factory? Any reason why you went for the 20" over the 19"?

From factory it came with 18" M Star Spoke 400 but my car was a showroom display model. they had installed 20" rims besides I didnt there was an option for 19" 624m rims.
