PSS10 Comfort vs. Normal Version?
It is my understanding that there are 2 versions of the PSS10 for the F30, the comfort version (48-229012) and the standard version (48-217170). The comfort lowers 10-30mm and the standard lowers 30-50mm.
Can anybody comment on the differences between the two aside from the ride height? The comfort version appeals to me because I don't want a super low drop, but I'm concerned it won't be stiff enough. |

Do you have the standard suspension or msport suspension? The reason is the sway bars. The OEM MPS requires an upgrade to the msport sways which adds $1k to the cost (install + parts). Coils don't mention anything about the sway bars for standard suspension users. On a previous car I ignored the sway upgrade recommendation. The warning were for drops of 1.4" or more though.

I ordered from Import Replacements Parts. They had a great black friday deal that I couldn't pass up. Honestly don't know much about the shop, but the service was solid. |

I wasn't aware of the sway bars needing upgrade for a certain drop... I won't be dropping too much anyway, so should be ok... mine has the standard suspension! |

Hi,
I've Got the pss10. When I bought it I was told only one version excisted,- the one lowering the car 30-50 mm. Bilstein said this could be used at 25mm as well, which is the lowering I have been using since this summer. I've had no problems what so ever! Adjustment takes less than 2 min. I use setting 1 now it's winter. On summertires, when the roads are dry I use max. Position 5. Above 5 is for track only, as I feel The car loose grip |

Hi DINH335,
Hi DINH335, Well in pos 1 it's slightly firmer than standard, but not uncomfortable. If you lower more than 25mm the ride will be much harder. I tried 50mm for a day just to feel the difference. -This can be used on flat surfaces only like the Nürbergring but on normal roads, (the other 364 days), it's worthless. -And if you get snow you'll have problems getting the chain on. The 25mm lowering is super if you don't want a low-rider. /Krelle |

Finally got everything installed. I got the regular version (non-comfort) and I'm pleased with that choice as the ride-height was easy enough to dial in to my liking without being stupid low.
The PSS10 kit is really nice. I've had KW V2s on multiple cars in the past and the PSS10 is a definite step up in both quality and performance. The stiffer setup does wonders for the F30, which has always felt floaty & sluggish in stock M-Sport form. Having easy access to the adjustment dials on the bottom of the shocks/struts is great. On my old KWs I would have to pull out the trunk carpet to make adjustments. I ran the dials at full soft (1) when I first picked it up and tweaked from there. I've settled at 5F and 4R for now for DD and it feels fantastic. Stiff and flat without being jarring. I wish more people went the full coilover route vs. springs because the gap in performance is quite significant. Last edited by billspreston; 01-25-2014 at 10:24 PM.. |

The mm measurement is height adjustability compared to Xdrive height (base suspension). Street comfort (kw or bilstein) will give you, at their heightest setting a 10mm drop from base height, and 30mm at its lowest. 30-50mm for the non street comfort variants.

OEM 0mm Front Springs is 160 ft/lbs // Rears 486 ft/lbs 10-30mm Front Springs is 289 ft/lbs // Rears 428 ft/lbs 30-50mm Front Springs 400 ft/lbs // Rears 566 ft/lbs The interesting part is that the KW SC have a flat +80 ft/lbs front and rear (240 / 575) while Bilstein is +129 / -58 (comfort) and +240 / +80 (standard) Both PSS10 use the same dampers, so the extra 20mm in spring length must factor in to the comfort spring rates. This makes the decision even harder as I want the Bilsteins for the ease of adjustment, but feel that the KW will be more comfortable as a daily driver.
