One of the linchpins of F1 for many years and by all accounts a top bloke as well; as you say, a very sad loss and a huge void to fill.

Sad thing and a bit of a dampener on the opening weekend, stressful job and constant travelling can't have helped.

I think this is shocking news. I'm very upset - he seemed such a nice guy. Jake Humphries tweeted (and repeated on the BBC) a lovely anecdote about his first time in the pit-lane having been presented CBBC one week and a GP the next. CW put him at ease:
