What a weird set of statistics. Every other car listed by model only, but BMW's split by engine designation as well. 318 and 318i for example.

According to that list, if you add up all the 3 series models listed together, it's 3 times more likely to be crashed than any other car.

Something fishy about that list. Lazy data collecting and even lazier analysis I suspect.

Good point... think how bad they could be if they just said 3 series!

The statistics on my car (330d) would be better if they combined all 3 series models data because it would bring down the average amount of crashes per 10,000, think about it

It is strange how they've only separated the exact badge/engine models on the BMW's and not on all the other cars listed.. just Stupid.

They aren't saying the Bora is the 8th most crashed car though remember they are saying it's the 8th highest amount crashed for every 10,000 of them.

Is the BMW thing to do with the number of 330/530d police cars?

Analysis is flawed as (I presume) it only takes into account the number of accidents per 10k vehicles, rather than the actual miles travelled per make/model in total.

Such a pointless statistic. Looking down the list, it then goes by brand where BMW is joint 10th and just about every major car brand is named.

So in conclusion. Cars crash.

Only truth I see is that Jaguar is at the bottom of the list, but I assume its only because they break down before they have a chance to crash.

Could explain why when I was researching whether to go for a 335xd or a 330xd the 335xd was cheaper to insure.
