OK, so they have added that now then.

The knock sensor will retard the timing considerably on 95, so run it on 98 if it takes it.

Problem is, it will only advance when it sees pure 98, so it may take a 2-3 tankfuls.
Run the 95 as low as you dare and then fill up with some 98 or 99.

You could add an octane booster of course, but it is expensive to see any true gain.

I would run Tesco 99, my E350 really liked it, and no more expensive than Shell 95.

Ok, so it was motorway @ 70 ish with cruise on, got 45.8 mpg
Not too bad for a 440i with M Performance exhaust etc!!!

I must have a much heavier right foot as I never get close to that. Best ever on a long trip has been 38mpg, and that's using higher RON fuel.
That said, if I was bothered about fuel economy, I'd have got myself a two litre diesel.
