It has more to do with re-using the stock gasket/clamps than with the downpipe

Just ordered @ xp-h! Hopefully, shipping time to The Netherlands won't take too long. Read some bad reviews on the cheaper catted DP's while this one is priced in the middle of the cheapest and most expensive ones. This one has the least bad reviews and the best support online from the seller/manufacturer so far imo.

Could any garage with experience in tuning do this job easily? My friend has a garage specialized in tuning and repairing modern American cars, could they do the job? Or do I need to find a shop which knows about BMW tuning and fitting of downpipes

Any competent mechanic can swap the DP.
Heck I did it myself and I don't consider myself a competent mechanic in any sense of the term.

- yes
- you can run it safely with the bm3 default burble settings . I do not recommend increasing the burbles on catted DP
