What an idiotic statement. Destroying your BMW because you have rusty seats.

I think someone needs to go to anger management.

Am I missing something, who cares?! I worked at a high end car stereo store when I was in school and I would take apart all types of cars. I would always see this and mainly on Japanese cars like Lexus and infinities. I would cut my hands on the underparts of there seats while removing them with the rust and choppy metal cuts they would have.

Sorry to say, but hopefully someone FINALLY admits the problem and it's BMW to tackle the problem at hand from the base!

Look at Toyota, #1 in the world, but at least they recall faults and DO SOMETHING about it!!!

well it did more damage to BMW than you think. Besides, if rusty seats is cosmetic so is spray painting a car. So he just needs windshield change to be "fully operational" as that is the only reason to be happy owning the car, right?

Can I say daebak!

Sucks, hopefully BMW will sort this out, it's unbelievable to get a brand new car with rust to begin with.

^that

I am not sure about Korea. But in Hong Kong, the prices of these cars are double if not triple the price of the US models mainly due to government's taxes and stuff like that. I think this is because the government is trying to discourage people to own a car since the cities are so crowed already. Meaning owning a car itself is already a luxury.

as usual steer clear of first couple of years of production, until problems are resolved.

I wonder what will happen when American and European buyers experience the same after-sale service. Destroying cars would seem minor as most of you probably also set your balls on fire with gasoline. Keep in mind, cars like BMW are very expensive in Asia (in most of the countries). Often enough, a 330/335 would cost more money than your brand new M5.

So if I were to find rust, (which I will go and have a look shortly) what is the best course of action?
Ring dealer and have it replaced? Repaired?
Or wait until service and have it replaced? Or repaired?

This speaks volumes about priorities.

I would not expect an automobile manufacturer to elevate a purely cosmetic issue that may affect some cars to the level of a recall. Moreover, it is a cosmetic issue that cannot even by seen. It is not a safety issue. It is not a performance issue. I would be disappointed in BMW if it were to put aside higher priority activities for something as trivial as this.

As for the owner of this car, it is an issue of priorities as well. I own my BMWs because they are driver's cars. I could give a crap if there is some superficial rust under the seat. I spend my time sitting on the seat looking down the road.

I don't think I would be to happy on a brand new BMW but that is a little much. A lot of cars I have worked on have this issue. It is just a little surface rust. Also most of the metal under dashes is not coated and has surface rust.

sure, but if you get a brand new car and it has rust on it, how much trust do you have in the quality build overall? I think is it major factor. With this stunt BWM lost lot more than just one spray painted car. It exposed the quality of the built. IMHO, they lose.
