I would not recommend using an OBD port splitter with the WiFi agent, unless the splitter has built-in circuitry to ensure proper data communications flow with multiple devices connected (and I have yet to see one that can do that). If you connect two OBD devices that need to communicate with the car, you will have a problem with data errors which will affect the functionality of one or both attached devices. Something you definitely don't want to have happen while flashing and will at the least be very annoying even if using the WiFi Agent for the gauge functionality (i.e. the gauges will not work properly).

Very true if the plan was to run multiple devices to OBD, which isn't my plan. Just wanted something cleaner for myself and have an open port when needed. Sorry if i miss informed anyone, and thanks for all the great info. |

Just want to update that I made the Agent itself and it works, but the Bm3 app does not want to flash with my iPhone 6. Just like the user a few pages ago, the Flashing screen pops up, then the app crashes. Was curious if anyone ever found a fix. Also makes me think that the app wouldn't work with iPhone 6 and an actual OBD Agent. Wonder if I could talk to them about it?

Can you test with a device newer than iPhone 6? PTF won't support a DIY Agent build.

I know they won't, but I'm wondering if I were to buy an actual OBD agent if the app would still fail on iPhone 6. I'm pretty sure it would because the software on the DIY agent and everything is the same, and the app is theirs, so it seems like an issue with the app on iPhone 6. I'm gonna try and grab another device to try on. I only want to flash maps anyway, so at this point it's easier just to use a laptop, the mobile hotspot, and have it connected up that way.

Gotcha. Yeah if you ever want to run the dashboard via the OBD agent then you can get a pretty cheap Andriod device for that.

I was also able to successfully change the SSID & password on the agent software to further secure the box. I only used alphanumeric's as I've read special characters can cause problems. I may test that theory at a later time. As a network guy I can't leave the default WiFi info even if it does impact support from PTF. Takes 2 minutes to change back if need be. Here are the instructions from PTF to change these settings: https://bootmod3.atlassian.net/wiki/...ardware+Device The agent software is running Raspbian linux kernel so if you are familiar with linux you can update/secure what you need. I opted to change the default password for the BM3 user since it could potentially be accessed through the internet via the WiFi hotspot. Once I get my license I'll verify 100% the RPi 2 B works seamlessly with the flash. |

I gave up with the version on here.. I just went to the ptf website downloaded the img and flashed it. I have to use the ssid as per ptf and not the Bluetooth tether from this thread but seems to be working

So a little off topic and random but I installed my wifi device this weekend and did a flash. Was not my first one but it still did a OBD unlock idk why. Took like 4mins.
I was also using the live dashboard while driving but was not able to get any logs. Gave me the option on dashboard and said log started then log stopped on the bottom of screen when I tried a few times but no logs are showing up under datalogs section. Just wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on what I can do to get logs to save. Thanks in advance. I have taken logs on my PC before and I deleted a bunch to make sure there was space even though that probably didn't matter. |

You do not need wine. The actual agent is a java .jar file. Any OS which has java (linux included) will run the agent natively. You just launch it from terminal.
ALSO UPDATE TO MY BLUETOOTH IMAGE: https://mega.nz/#!W5YSiYSK!_fJ50g2CC...uRcp8HJyzOCjWU It is an outdated agent but will update from your phone. I know some people were looking for this. Took me a while to update it. I think my original post is on page 14. The original was not able to update through the phone. |

OBD Splitter
I used an OBD Splitter in my install as I have a p3cars gauge I wanted to keep. I can not catalog with them both plugged in, the gauge is probably blocking the agent from pulling that same data. However, when flashing, the gauge is not on as it only turns on when the engine is on so it should not affect anything.
