Remus catback/axleback 440i sound difference
Looking to get some feedback/opinions from people regarding the Remus catback and axleback exhaust for the F3x 440i and if lucky - anyone who have also had a Subaru EJ257 with Nvidia Q300 turboback exhaust.
Bit of background, I used to have a 2012 Subaru Forester with a Nvidia Q300 Turboback exhaust. I found the volume and sound to be perfect, I love the boxer rumble and the volume was just right for me. I am not a big fan of the higher pitched exhaust notes, so I've looked around various posts/videos and have settled that the Remus would give the lower pitched exhaust note that I'm looking for also keeping the stock valve operation. I have no current plans to get a dump pipe, and if I did in the future it would be a catted dump pipe. So my purchase options are either a catback (with resonated midpipe) or an axleback. I'm in a smaller city in Australia, so no option to buy second hand and new costs an arm and a leg, so I need to get it right. Thanks 1. Sound/Volume difference between the axleback and catback? 2. Any chance anyone have had an EJ257 with Nvidia Q300 turboback and also happen to have had a B58 with Remus catback/axleback? 3. Am I going the right direction in getting the Remus for the lower pitched exhaust note that I'm looking for? 4. Or what configuration of exhaust should I be considering to get the sound that I would like (lower pitched)? Aftermarket catted dump + stock mid + Remus axleback? |

I actually have had the full Remus car back with the AA catted DP on for over 60k miles and it is totally worth the money, it’s loud but not disturbing when you get on it otherwise it’s very civil driving normally

I have the Remus axleback, everything else in the exhaust system stock, and it’s quite mild most of the time unless I rev it high. I’ll definitely be looking to increase the sound with a Remus or Dinan midpipe at some point this year before I add a DP.
The valve in the Remus was a must for me, living in an apartment complex the full blast cold start exhaust even with BM3 stage 1 is a lot. I didn’t know NVIDIA made exhaust systems, that’s quite the industrial pairing with designing GPU architecture. |

Did you install the DP after you had the cat back (res or non res)? Did it make it a lot louder?

Is there actually much difference between the stock midpipe and an aftermarket resonated one? I see that the stock has an extra box thing, if I get an exhaust shop to cut that and pipe through would that pretty much be the same?
Yeah, the valve is also a must for me. Typo in regards to Nvidia haha, supposed to be Invidia. |

i see youre in australia, are you sure you can get a Remus exhaust? Their availability can be spotty.
i think remus is the best f3x exhaust set-up.

I've had a Remus axle back since 2019 and I love it. ER catless DP and OEM mid pipe with resonators still in place. Rowdy AF when you want it to be and docile as a church mouse when passing the cops.

The next shipment is on 07/23, with only 2 340/440 exhausts coming

Hi there
I'm in Australia as well. Current car is 340i stock. Have just installed the Remus axle back exhaust and it's VERY underwhelming in comparison to what I was expecting (in comparison with the M240i that I previously owned). Not interested in tuning upgrades, just more sporty sounding. I guess my only option is straight pipe replacing the resonators? Does anyone have experience with this cat back mod? Is it worth purchasing the Remus axle back pipes or should I just go to the exhaust shop to replace the front section with straight pipe? Will that produce drone noise or raspy exhaust? Trying to get back to the perfect sound that came from the M240i. Last edited by LUX3; 03-17-2024 at 12:07 AM.. |
